    Executive Director: Space Science

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Strategy Planning, Development, and Implementation.
    • Operations Management.
    • Enterprise Risk Management.
    • Stakeholder Management.
    • Space Science Research.
    • Transformation Management

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:

    • At least 10 years in a space science, research, engineering technology environment, with a minimum of 3-5 years in senior or top management role.
    • PhD or equivalent (Astronomy or Astrophysics or Physics or Engineering or a closely related field) or a Master’s degree (Astronomy or Astrophysics or Physics or Engineering or a closely related field).
    • An MBA will be an added advantage.
    • Exceptional research track record.

    Electronics Engineering In-Service Training

    Key learning areas will include, but are not limited to: 

    • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic, telecommunications, and computer hardware or software systems and equipment associated with satellite ground station operations.
    • Participate in rendering specialised Tracking, Telemetry & Command (TT&C) launch support services to SLVs (Satellite launch vehicles), Transfer-Orbit Support (TOS), Launch and Early-Orbit Phase (LEOP), Emergency, In-Orbit Test (IOT) services, routine life-cycle support operations, etc.
    • To conduct routine preventative maintenance and first-line reactive maintenance, to SANSA-owned or stakeholder or customer-owned systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
    • To participate in ad-hoc project tasks.
    • This is also an opportunity to work on, or add value to existing or new projects, systems, and processes.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements: 

    • S3/S4 Electronic Engineering qualification with good academic results specialising in telecommunications.
    • Final year of studies and in search of P1 and P2 in-service training to complete the qualification.
    • Satellite technology coursework.
    • Understanding of microwave principles, applications, and telecommunications.
    • Proficient in the English language and good communication skills.
    • Computer skills.
    • Must be able to use both hands and have good vision.
    • We are in a remote area with no access to public transport, applicants need to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transport to and from work.
