    Electronic Engineering In-Service Trainee

    Duties:

    • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, radio frequency (RF), electronic telecommunications, and computer hardware or software systems and equipment associated with satellite ground station operations
    • Participate in rendering specialised tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) launch support services to SLVs (Satellite launch vehicles), transfer-orbit support (TOS), launch and early-orbit phase (LEOP), emergency, in-orbit test (IOT) services, routine life-cycle support operations, etc.
    • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and first-line reactive maintenance to SANSA-owned, stakeholder, or customer-owned systems, equipment, and infrastructure
    • Participate in ad-hoc project tasks

    Requirements

    • S4/S5 Electrical Engineering qualification with good academic results, specialising in electronics or telecommunications
    • In search of work-integrated learning (WIL)/in-service training (practicals) to complete the qualification
    • Understanding of microwave principles, applications, and telecommunications
    • Proficient in the English language and good communication skills
    • Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office Suite
    • Must be able to use both hands and have good vision

    Ground Segment Manager

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to: 

    • Development, implementation, and monitoring of the Technical Support Plan
    • Development, maintenance, and enhancement of the maintenance management system
    • Management of antennas and all related system designs
    • Collaboration with Genhouse Maintenance and Project Office
    • Budget management and procurement
    • Reporting and monitoring
    • Stakeholder and customer management
    • Human Capital Development (HCD)

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Postgraduate BSc Engineering or B.Eng Electronics or RF Eng advantageous
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in antenna (TT&C) and satellite systems repairs and maintenance, of which at least 5 years should be management experience
    • Computer skills (MS Office, Access database, C++, python, LabView, javascript programming language)
    • A valid driver’s license
