    Senior Surveyor

    Job purpose: 
    Map out mining areas, use electronic survey equipment and programs to assist the Snr. Surveyor to make accurate measurements to determine the mine/operation boundaries/scope of work and determine production volumes achieved. Provide data related to shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features for engineering, mapmaking, mining, land evaluation, construction, and other purposes.

    Key duties and responsibilities:
    Surveying Responsibilities

    •  Operating Survey equipment and conduct survey to achieve accurate survey measurements.
    •  Map out area of work and ensure that all work is conducted within mining parameters, scope and in accordance with the mining plan.
    •  Ensure that surveys are carried out according to plan, results are timeously reported, deviations identified
    • and corrective actions recommended.
    •  Liaise with applicable Representatives from Client and establish professional relationships.
    •  Execute all survey activities in compliance with Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards.
    •  Implement systems to ensure quality control of plan and that layout delivery is designed, implemented and monitored.
    •  Schedule and plan resources and logistics to meet survey work output plans.
    •  Ensure that the quality of mine surveying practice and mining operations in general are continuously reviewed.
    •  Timeously compile and present survey reports of production to management.
    •  Daily measuring and reporting as per contractual requirements and managerial instructions.
    •  Compare survey results and negotiate with client to agree on final monthly survey report of volumes mined,
    • for certificate purposes.

    Communication

    •  Communicate training needs and HR related matters to the training and HR department.
    •  Communicate all SHEQ related matters and legal aspects.
    •  Attend caucus meetings in order to keep employees informed.
    •  Sustain and manage communication in accordance with TAU mining communication plan

    Minimum Job requirements:

    •  Matric (Grade 12)
    •  Mining related Degree or Diploma
    •  3 -5 years’ relevant experience in similar position
    •  Supervisory experience
    •  Mine planning software i.e., Xpac or Deswic
    •  Clean criminal record
    •  Valid code EB Driver’s license

    Qualifications & Experience:

    •  Grade 12 with Mathematics and preferably also Engineering Drawing passed as subjects.
    •  National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying
    •  At least 5 years’ experience as a Surveyor in Open Cast Mining environment.
    •  Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control Training (HIRAC)
    •  Must have a valid Driver’s license.
    •  Clean criminal record

    Knowledge, Attitude, Skills & Abilities:

    •  Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
    •  Adherence to Sect 22 & 23 of the MHSA
    •  Excellent knowledge and operating ability on Model Maker, MicroStation or other software with reference and the ability to perform the following:
    •  Haul Profiles.
    •  Volumetric calculations to determine tonnages moved (cut & fill);
    •  Converting of raw survey data and building of models.
    •  Drill plans.
    •  Ramp plans to determine if it is according to mine standards.
    •  Creating of pegs with reference to pit boundaries to stake.
    •  Month End Calculations.
    •  Converting of STR & DWG Files to correct coordinates positions.
    •  Drone operating & drone surveying experience.
    •  Energetic, ability to work under pressure and a strong sense of urgency.
    •  Attention to detail and accuracy

    Mining Planner

    Job purpose:

    The role is responsible for providing the Company with specialist mine planning services and expertise in support of the Tau Mining operations. The Mining Planner must have an excellent understanding of economic principles behind a profitable mine plan (mineral quality parameters, blending, cut-off grade/quality, limits, mining width, dilution, recovery, contamination), as well as the following:

    • Understanding concepts and applying principles of integrated mine planning (advanced producing shortand medium-term planning).
    • Generate extraction layouts and production schedules including resource and equipment requirements for mining final products.
    • Preparing and collating information to determine the risks associated with the execution of the short and medium term mine plan.
    • Analysing production results against planned schedules and recommending corrective action Creating operational mining infrastructure and resources schedule.

    Key performance areas:

    •  Compile the project input to the strategic business plans for the mine.
    •  Interpret the mining operational plan and production results to develop a monthly operation plan.
    •  Liaise with other related disciplines to gather information necessary to fulfil duties.
    •  Mine design.
    •  Scheduling of Mine designs and short-term & medium-term planning
    •  Responsible for the planning/coordination/liaising of planning meeting at pre-determined frequency.
    •  Highlight deviations to the plan and identify opportunities to catch up or exceed the plan.
    •  Portray true reflection of mining operations and geological features on the plan.
    •  Monitor modifying factors through technical analysis.
    •  Perform duties of technical assurance
    •  Mining trade-off studies
    •  Pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
    •  Reconciliation on mine plans

    Minimum Job requirements:
