    Specialist : Customer Insights

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • To conduct deep analysis on product performance across all relevant internal metrics for revenue and sales volumes.
    • This includes analysis of macro-economic factors and competitor products.
    • To provide feedback, insights, and recommendations on pricing and regional specific deals to the relevant teams in the centre, for the improvement in sales and revenue performance.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Deep analysis of sales and revenue performance at a customer segment, product, channel, and geographic level.
    • Feedback and recommend demand strategies based on product pricing and channel dynamics.
    • Support branded and unbranded channels with insights and recommendations on product and channel performance.
    • Regional SPOC for CVM, products and services, insights and big data teams based in Head Office.
    • Continuous monitoring of competitor products and services.
    • Presentation of analysis and recommendations to various stakeholders.
    • Drive the local implementation of the CARE and Customer Experience Excellence strategy developed by COPS into the region and counties.
    • Work with Channel Managers and Branded/Unbranded Specialists in implementing CXX strategy and executing in-store elements.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to COPS for continuous improvements on CXX journey.
    • Analyse regional customer base in conjunction with Head Office CVM team to provide insight and recommendations on trends or behaviour of base.
    • Customer appreciation trackers, (e.g. tNPS, rNPS, BMS, MAPS) to derive Customer insights and Customer Strategy for input on CX, Product and CVM growth objectives.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Matric / Grade 12, and
    • 3 year commercial/Data Analytics/marketing/sales diploma or degree (NQF 6 or higher) or SAQA accredited equivalent (essential) with
    • 3-5 years relevant experience (essential)
    • Valid Driver’s licence (essential)
    • Knowledge of products (advantageous)

    Senior Data Scientist

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Create AI products that provide actionable business insight to Vodacom and its stakeholder
    • Developing predictive models with large and varied datasets, working with a community of colleagues across Advanced Analytics, technology, and data and customer functions
    • Contributing to the wider community to enable AI capability across Vodafone globally.
    • Development of machine learning models for various areas of the business on the Big Data Platforms
    • Machine Learning model performance tracking and reporting. e.g. Use data visualizations to engage audience in a compelling way, enabling effective storytelling
    • Work with lead and principal data scientists to deliver key strategic initiatives to meet the needs of business customers
    • Works in partnership with Big Data Engineering team to automate, integrate & productionize AI workloads.
    • Work in partnership business decision support team to provide Big Data insights
    • Mentorship to data scientists in the team
    • Present results to technical and non- technical audiences

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in quantitative fields like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or related fields (essential)

    Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

    • A minimum of 4-6 years relevant experience in Big Data & Data Science.
    • Experiencing working with and mentoring/coaching data scientists in training
    • Experience in data manipulation: use of structured data tools (e.g., SQL), and unstructured data platforms (e.g. PySpark, NoSQL)
    • Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language: Python, R, Java
    • Experience across major machine learning model frameworks (e.g. H2O, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow) and techniques (e.g. random forest, gradient boosting, k-means segmentation, multiple regression, factor analysis, time-series forecasting)
    • Exposure to cloud native deployment of models and working with containerized technologies such as Docker and Kurbernetees.
    • Knowledge of MLOps and LLMOps concepts and deployment of models through batch and real-time architectures.
    • Professional and/or academic experience in Big Data analytics & deployment of models and algorithms to solve real-world problems (with deep statistical and machine learning modelling expertise)
    • Familiarity with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, D3, Apache Superset, Plotly, PowerBI, Opensearch, Grafana)
    • Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Analytical and expansive thinking with a strong desire to deliver and develop.

    Senior Specialist: ERM

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    Risk Identification and Mitigation:

    • Lead risk assessments at both operational and tactical levels in collaboration with EHODs ME’s and Chiefs across Vodacom Group.
    • Ensure that critical and high business risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated through appropriate risk control strategies.
    • Develop and promote strategic plans to enhance risk management practices across the organization.

    Risk Management System Ownership:

    • Champion the maintenance and continuous enhancement of the risk management system to ensure it aligns with Vodacom's evolving needs and industry best practices.
    • Oversee the validation of information and the maintenance of user records and access control within the risk management system.
    • Drive improvements to the risk management system, incorporating new functionalities and tools that support business needs.

    Combined Assurance and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Manage and drive the combined assurance process, ensuring alignment of risk management activities with assurance providers across the organization (including Group Internal Audit and other third-party auditors).
    • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with assurance providers to ensure a comprehensive view of the organization's risk landscape.
    • Work closely with key stakeholders, including EHODs, MEs, and Exco, to ensure the risk profile is regularly updated and reflects emerging risks.
    • Collaborate with other assurance functions to ensure effective coverage and mitigation of risks across business units.

    Training and Risk Management Awareness:

    • Lead the creation and delivery of training programs to raise awareness of the Vodacom Risk Management Framework and Policy, ensuring that staff at all levels understand their role in managing risk.
    • Develop and manage a network of risk champions across the organization, training them on their responsibilities, risk management best practices, and the use of the risk management system.

    Risk Management Framework Oversight:

    • Ensure the Vodacom Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Policy are up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with industry best practices.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of risk templates, presentations, and other risk-related content in line with the corporate identity and compliance standards.
    • Stay current with emerging trends in risk management, ensuring Vodacom's approach is continuously aligned with evolving industry standards and best practices.

    Reporting and Governance:

    • Provide strategic input into quarterly Risk Management Committee meeting packs, ensuring that risk reporting is accurate, comprehensive, and reflective of the current risk environment.
    • Prepare and present position papers on significant risk management issues for the organization, highlighting potential areas of concern or opportunities for improvement.

    Audit and Compliance Management:

    • Act as the point of contact for audits related to risk management, ensuring that Vodacom's risk management practices are compliant with internal policies, external regulations, and industry standards.

    Ad-hoc Projects:

    • Take on special projects as directed by the EHOD: Business Risk Management, contributing to the continuous improvement of risk management practices within Vodacom.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • To conduct operational and tactical risk assessments for Vodacom Group.
    • To update appropriate risk exposure standards, guidelines and maintain the ERM policy and framework, risk categories, risk library and control library.
    • To ensure that risks, drivers and controls are clearly recorded, mitigated, managed and communicated to all relevant parties.
    • To report on risk information and progress on any projects to relevant forums and committee meetings.
    • To continuously train staff and conduct awareness through different means on risk management principles, in order to improve the risk culture of the organisation.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • A diploma/degree or equivalent qualification (B.Com, Risk Management, Business Studies)
    • Honours degree advantageous.
    • Additional relevant professional certification will be an advantage.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience :

    • Minimum of 5 years business experience (essential)
    • Knowledge of business processes and internal controls.
    • Knowledge of and experience with risk management systems.
    • Good understanding of the King reports and ISO31000.
    • Telecommunications exposure will be an advantage.

    Specialist: Software Engineer

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • This role is directly responsible for ensuring scalable digital platforms within the company and will be actively involved in crafting and delivering software architectures that are fit for purpose into the future.
    • The role will have in depth knowledge of mobile software architectures and frameworks as well as web platform technology.
    • The role will be directly responsible for compliance to these architectures through manual and automated controls and will take a very deep and active role in managing performance and stability of assets, agile delivery frameworks deployed and devops methodologies.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Define and take accountability for the:

    • High-level technical strategy and architecture for web and mobile
    • Implementation options for all assigned application initiatives in the organization
    • Web and mobile governance processes and structures
    • Integrity, stability, performance and scalability of the web and mobile environments
    • Work collaboratively with consulting partners and IT teams to ensure high quality of software delivery
    • Engage with technology partners, cross-functional IT groups and the Business to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of development in support activities
    • Work closely with the Business and IT teams to understand business strategy and contribute to achievement of business goals
    • Provide oversight to investigation, analysis and management of technology risks, issues, and dependencies in all programs/projects
    • Provide oversight and standards for technical documentation of applications.
    • Conduct periodic reviews with partners on SLA's, performance metrics and issues, escalations, change requests and improvement plans.
    • Automate controls and metrics to ensure that the defined architecture is adhered to

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • 3 years technical knowledge and experience of Java and web and mobile based (IOS and Android) development technologies and suites required and associated frameworks (Essential)
    • AWS Developer Associate Certification
    • Experience with SQL and NoSQL Databases. MySQL, PostgreSQL & MongoDB big advantage
    • Strong JavaScript, NodeJS - Typescript Knowledge is a must
    • Experience with NodeJS frameworks is a must (for example: express)
    • Experience with Node/Graph QL & REST
    • Being skilled with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript
    • Experience in one or more relevant front-end frameworks such as React, NodeJS.
    • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud technologies (AWS or AZURE)
    • CI/CD Integration experience a big advantage

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience :

    • Very deep technical knowledge of Java and NodeJS and web and mobile based (IOS and Android) development technologies and suites required
