    Regional Medical Advisor

    The position

    • As a Regional Medical Advisor, you’ll build critical relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers, expanding your reach to a multidisciplinary team of potential role players in the management of obesity – pushing for better clinical outcomes for people living with obesity. You’ll engage in scientific dialogue on the disease area and demonstrate the benefits of key products with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and relevant associations, providing medical information and coordinating educational workshops, round tables, medical forums, and discussing role of pharmacotherapy in guidelines, etc. – all to help transform the treatment of millions of people living with obesity around the world.
    • You’ll leverage your knowledge of various diseases linked with obesity, while going out of your comfort zone to find creative ways and non-conventional methods to interact with and engage HCPs to highlight obesity as a chronic disease that needs a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
    • Most importantly, you’ll use your extensive scientific expertise to communicate with healthcare providers and change the story of obesity for good.
    • This role directly reports to Head of Medical Affairs and will be located in Johannesburg, with the geographical scope of the role extending to the whole of South Africa.

    What You’ll Get To Do In This Role

    • Build your understanding of the landscape of obesity as a chronic disease, as well as various diseases links with obesity and also learn new sciences/areas
    • Work with non-conventional methods and find creative ways to interact with and engage healthcare professionals and relevant associations
    • Combine scientific expertise, communication skills and business acumen to enhance value and develop collaborative relationships
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, funders and associations
    • Provide scientific and clinical education to Chief Executives of relevant healthcare institutions, Medical Directors and formulary stakeholders to secure proper access to treatment

    Your responsibility will be also to impact the business outcomes positively through strategic action plans (especially back-office med teams) and the cultivation of key relationships, to transfer scientific content and value to both experts and non-medical audiences and collaborate cross functionally with sales, clinical operations, field access and trial/study investigation sites.

    Qualifications

    To be effective in this role, it is mandatory to have:

    • Medical Doctor (preferable) or Master’s degree in Life Sciences (Medical doctor, Pharmacist, Biochemist) or PHD
    • Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience is preferred
    • Displays business acumen and knowledge around out-of-pocket selling dynamics, based on experiences such as participation in formulary process decisions
    • Expertise in the cardiometabolic space or adjacent area
    • Exceptional communication skills

    Medical Advisor - Insulin

    The Position

    As a Medical Advisor, you will be responsible for establishing leadership in diabetes and access to Novo Nordisk (NN) products in South Africa through providing quality medical and scientific support to clinicians (mainly influencers), other healthcare professionals (HCPs - nurses, pharmacists, etc.), and colleagues. The main outcome of the job is to ensure KOLs, specialists and other HCPs are aware of and understand the scientific basis for and clinical usefulness of our compounds within diabetes, obesity, and biopharma.

    • Scientific support for marketed products and development projects within diabetes (primarily) but may be required to support other therapeutic areas guided by business needs.
    • Productive relationships with key stakeholders and relevant institutions/organizations to achieve competitive advantage and market leadership within diabetes.
    • Training and educational activities for clinicians and other HCPs working with diabetes and supporting and training for diabetes sales teams.
    • Delivery of scientific information to HCPs, Drug Formulary Committees, and Expert Groups. Specific medical project leadership and responsibility. Plan and align HCP and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement planning with the brand event calendar. Medico-marketing support for product campaign development & implementation.
    • Driving and organizing advisory boards, HCP interactions and other KOL (Key Opinion Leaders) engagements. Developing and presenting scientific information to external audiences – HCPs, KOLs etc

    Qualifications

    You have a bachelor’s degree in Medical Doctor (most preferred), especially if has an Endocrinology or Internal Medicine specialization or an Advanced Degree in Health Sciences in Pharmacy or Other specialization with a minimum of 4 years of working experience in clinical practice preferably in Endocrinology or Internal Medicine in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Also, you have knowledge of clinical research Experience with GCP and Good business understanding preferably previous pharma industry experience.

    • You have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and have a relevant business background. Having proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.
    • You have strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills, can provide recommendations despite uncertainty and pressure, and are able to handle and simplify complexity while focusing on the bigger picture.
    • You are a team player, but at the same time possess independent drive, and have a can-do mindset. Good at translating medical/scientific insights to business opportunities/implications.
    • Proven success in strong leadership and interpersonal skills and a structured and transparent way of working. Ability to manage complex tasks/processes and organizational issues
    • Experience and willingness to work in an international matrix organization. Ability and willingness to quickly adjust to new situations in a continuously developing environment
