To provide leadership and direction to achieve HSE, cost and volume performance in his / her area of area of responsibility, through the effective co-ordination of all the production processes (inclusive of topsoil stripping, drilling and blasting activities, dragline exposure operations, truck and shovel operations, coal load and haul operations, pit dewatering and rehabilitation).
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Execute the policies, procedures and safe practices required to mine safely in his / her area of responsibility
Formulation and ownership of the short- and medium-term production plans to achieve mine targets
Provides input to LOM planned objectives and budget, driving performance and implementation accordingly
Identifies, builds, and develops production talent and capability, including a pipeline of talent for key positions
Directs and co-ordinates production processes inclusive of stripping, drilling and blasting, dragline exposure, truck and shovel exposure, contractors coal extraction as well as mine dewatering and rehabilitation with the objective that resources are effectively utilized enabling the RoM to be delivered to correct destination as per plan
Manages the execution of all mining activities in line with mining legislation, exemptions and environmental legislation and licenses
Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal and external relationships and implements remedial actions were required to ensure achievement of organisational goals
Establish and implements effective risk management processes and engage relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance to requirements
Requirements:
Eng, BTech or Advanced Diploma, B Eng, National Diploma Coal Mining Engineering
Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (Coal) - completed
Minimum 2 years appointed as Mine Overseer in a production environment
Knowledge and experience in organisational improvement
In-depth knowledge of mining processes
Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation (MHSA, HSE, Labour etc.)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SAP
Valid driver’s license
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
