    Senior Manager Marketing

    Job Profile Summary

    • Reporting to the General Manager Mobility & Convenience South Africa (Retail) and part of Extended Leadership team, the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for developing & implementing the long term strategic marketing plans, as well as the annual marketing and communication strategies to meet the business objectives.
    • This role is responsible for the effective implementation of all marketing programmes for the business to underpin country and business plan delivery.
    • The Senior Manager Marketing is expected to be a customer centric individual with extensive knowledge and expertise on all aspects of marketing which include but are not limited to strategy and brand management, customer loyalty and marketing execution within a Mobility & Convenience South Africa (Retail) environment. The Senior Manager Marketing will need to have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders locally and internationally and manage multiple projects when required.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Expectations of the role include:

    • Creating a competitive advantage for bp in selected markets through distinctive positioning, offers for both B2B & B2C channels and marketing and communication activities on a long-term basis.
    • Optimising brand strength to gain long term above market average demand for bp products and services.

    Building a strong Marketing and Communication capability for long term sustainability of the Mobility & Convenience SA (Retail) business

    • Lead activities that develop the marketing strategy (and associated implementation plans), focusing on the brand, offers and business development opportunities.
    • Develop strategic partnerships with suppliers and agencies to ensure optimum working efficiencies in all marketing programmes.
    • Develop key performance areas and ensure that the entire marketing unit performs well against these.
    • Lead the marketing review process and provide inputs/outputs to the business plan, opportunities/vulnerability
    • Create a competitive advantage for bp in selected markets through distinctive positioning, offers for both Business-to-business & Business-to-customers channels and marketing capabilities on a long-term basis.

    Education & Experience Required:

    Education

    • A tertiary education with an appropriate formal marketing qualification.
    • Minimum, honours equivalent. Masters level advantageous.

    Experience

    • 10 - 15 years of strategic and Marketing Management experience where 5 years should have been spent at a senior management level with the demonstrable track record.

    Senior Manager Network Solutions

    Job Profile Summary

    • This role primarily entails planning, managing and implementing the overall strategic goals of M&C SA network plan through evaluating and recommending changes to the current and future network requirements to meet the business needs. In summary, 4 key accountabilities:
    • The role provides direct leadership to the network team to deliver the implementation of the network strategy. Working closely with the local Business Development & Integration teams and other global counterparts it mobilizes operational resources to effectively execute on South Africa’s network strategic mandate.
    • Accountable for a budget covering all network activities linked to new business and the base network.
    • Manages a national team focused on an extensive network footprint. Manages the complexity of the retail network portfolio and environment.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Extended leadership team member- responsible for supporting wider M&C business with people agenda and driving transformational culture
    • Defining clearly the Network optimization work plans, ensuring that the team leads and their respective staff have clear roles of responsibilities and are set up for success. This means focus on maintaining a pipeline of work for projects and maintenance improvement.
    • Network Planning through engaging with strategic external partners such as governmental, provincial, and municipal structures, property developers, which will provide insights on where to acquire new opportunities in the most commercially effective manner i.e., understand where the future growth lies, and guide teams on a) areas to focus and concentrate for future growth to capture market share and b) negotiating the right commercial terms during negotiations. (This is to avoid the high rentals that are currently being paid out based on short term evaluations done by estate/property agents).
    • Provide leadership around capital project delivery, - holding his team accountable to deliver on time, at the right cost from start to end of project. Work with legal, construction and procurement structures to embed and execute fines and penalties for late deliveries (this is most applicable in the DO space and where contractors fail to deliver on time).
    • Embed a culture of standardization and ensure consistency is applied across the various network activities (existing and new).
    • Accurate reporting of business revenue streams for the entire network portfolio are managed through the various programs/governance structures i.e., RAS margins, income received, rentals paid and other adhoc expenses such as rates and taxes, utilities are reported systematically through GBS and addressed appropriately.
    • To develop a competitively advantaged retail network in the region aligned with the business strategy, aligning regional network development with the AsPac and global network strategy.
    • To provide strategic direction and contribute towards the development of the business, coach, and mentor staff to ensure effective succession planning and talent management.
    • To develop systems, processes, and interventions to substantially raise the company’s capability to manage bp’s retail property, deliver new sites and lease contract renewals.
    • To deliver high HSSE standards in the development of bp’s retail network.

    Senior Trading Manager

    Job Profile Summary

    • This role is responsible to direct the convenience business in the frame of Global Convenience Strategy and SA MC&M roadmap. To develop and implement strategic customer driven initiatives to grow convenience earnings and increase convenience penetration in the market. Define and ensure implementation of a competitor strategy and to review and identify key enablers for strategy delivery.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Convenience transformation

    • Outlines bp SA’s Convenience Strategy and transformation plan including growth plan,
    • Develops profitable business model for multi-channel implementation.
    • Define and execute multi format strategy and site cluster approach.
    • Responsible for continues improvement in all areas of convenience value chain.
    • Optimizing and implementing a dynamic Customer Value Proposition across bp SA Convenience.
    • Provides a Private Equity lens and positions bp SA Convenience as a pseudo standalone business with a target multiple and theoretical exit valuation.
    • Develops data strategies for Convenience including the deployment of trend analytics, predictive analytics, algorithm development, stochastic and statistical modelling for Convenience data sets.

    Convenience optimization

    • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
    • Set strategic goals for convenience operational efficiency and increased productivity across all convenience areas of expertise.
    • Ensure business support systems definition, implementation, and linked operational processes definition.
    • Executes market related research methodologies including first-hand experience in conducting in-house led R&D in the retail and convenience space.
    • Devise strategies for ensuring the growth of programs convenience-wide and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs.
    • Drives the business planning cycle for Convenience including the development of budgets, forecasts, detailed gross margin planning and work with operation to set fully profitable offer.

    Strategic oversight

    • Oversees the end-to-end supply chain governance and expertise for both PnP and bp Express, ensuring that the right products are safely delivered at the right time, to the right place, in the right quantities to maximise availability, whilst minimising waste and capital employed.
    • Define convenience pricing strategy and governance to execute.
    • Directs the development of the overall strategic and tactical business and promotional plan to grow all convenience categories. This role monitors the overall implementation of category management targets covering demand, inventory management and waste management, warehouse, and distribution logistics.
    • Oversee the development of existing/future and emerging offers in line with the local convenience strategy. These include but are not limited to PnP Express (large/small formats), similarly for bp Express, QSRs, other value-added facilities/offers to maximise overall profitability and income of the site.
    • Oversee the implementation of partnership models for the various strategic partners (e.g., financial services, QSRs) including legal, commercial, and operational requirements.
    • Oversees the implementation of the data strategy for the bp convenience business including identification of automation strategies, ingestion strategies and data transformation strategies for the business.

    Education & Experience Required:

    Education

    • BSc Hons Economics/Accounting and Finance/Supply Chain Management/Marketing/Business
    • MBA preferred

    Experience

    • 10 – 15 years extensive background in retail, particularly convenience. Must have spent at least 5 years in a senior position leading small to medium-sized team.
    • Significant market relationships including evidence of access to decision makers in the retail, financial services, delivered convenience space.
    • Must have operated at a strategic and operational levels.
    • Extensive exposure to retail and convenience IT systems.
