    Process Engineer

    • Applications are invited for a Process Engineer position in our Engineering team based in Wadeville. This person will report to the Engineering Manager and be repsonsible in supporting operational excellence by applying engineering expertise to optimize production processes, improve equipment performance, drive sustainability initiatives, and lead continuous improvement across the plant.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Conduct detailed mass and energy balances to verify process capability, identify inefficiencies, and support optimization and project development.
    • Develop, maintain, and analyse PFDs and P&IDs to support process understanding, modification, and compliance with engineering standards.
    • Lead and support capital and operational projects, including scope development, design reviews, contractor management, FATs/SATs, and commissioning.
    • Perform operational analysis of equipment and processes, including downtime studies, efficiency tracking and reviews, and performance benchmarking.
    • Form part of a multi-disciplinary problem-solving team, applying structured methodologies defined by TPM.
    • Conduct hydraulic calculations (pressure drop, line sizing, pump selection) to support design changes, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
    • Apply chemical, mechanical, and process engineering principles to optimize plant operations, improve throughput, and address equipment or process deviations.
    • Implement and embed global best practices to standardize processes, drive the sustainability agenda, improve safety performance, and elevate operational excellence.
    • Drive the plant’s sustainability agenda, including water and energy reduction initiatives, waste minimization, and circularity projects.
    • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Safety, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
    • Lead or support data-driven decision making through statistical analysis, trending, and interpretation of process and production data.
    • Champion process safety, ensuring process risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated through engineering controls and safe operating practices.
    • Participate in technology evaluations, feasibility studies, and trials to introduce improved processes, automation, or equipment innovations.
    • Support accurate utility usage analysis (steam, water, compressed air, refrigeration) and identify areas for optimization and conservation.
    • Maintain rigorous documentation and engineering governance, including change control, drawings updates, and standards compliance.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

    • Degree in Chemical Engineering (BTech/BEng) plus 5 - 8 years’ experience
    • Demonstrated project ownership with measurable technical contributions and field exposure
    • Leadership ability

    Automation Technician

    • Heineken Beverages has an exciting opportunity available to a suitable candidate for potential placement in our PP&L department. This position will be based at Wadeville Production. 

    Key performance areas include, but not limited to:

    • Maintaining electrical, control and instrumentation systems on existing machinery and equipment
    • Attending to process instrumentation related equipment breakdowns
    • Fault finding in electrical, instrumentation and control equipment
    • Attending to electrical related equipment breakdowns, if required
    • Providing Technical assistance to processing and utilities plant
    • Installation of instrumentation and control systems on new machinery and equipment
    • Upgrading, optimizing and modifying of control systems
    • Adhering to all relevant quality, health & safety policies, and procedures
    • Completing all relevant administration
    • Providing inputs for budgets (OPEX and CAPEX)

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification/experience/skills:

    • Qualified Instrumentation Technician (National Diploma/N6 Diploma)
    • Trade Test will be advantageous
    • At least 3 years relevant experience in the instrumentation and Control environment

    Working knowledge of:

    • PLC/HMI programming (Siemens PCS 7, Win CC, Simotion Scout, TIA Portal, etc.)
    • Industrial networks (Profibus, Ethernet, ASI, etc.)
    • Scada Systems / Plant Information Systems
    • Electrical and instrumentation components (contactors, overloads, starters, sensors, PT100, etc.)
    • Variable speed drives (Danfoss, Telemechanique, Lenze, etc.)
    • Familiar with process plant and utilities controls and instrumentation
    • Computer literate in MS Office package (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.)
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Willing and able to work shifts
    • Willing and able to work extended hours (overtime) as and/or when required
    • Ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of the position

    PM Technician I

    Applications are invited to apply for the above mentioned position to be based at Adam Tas, Stellenbosch. The successful applicant will report to the Maintenance Team Leader

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
    • Ensure machines are maintained to best practice standards including safety (machine safe to use).
    • Ensure proper disposal of consumables and materials.
    • Ensure good food safe practices when performing maintenance.
    • Ensure that problem-solving is done to best practice standards in of support higher-level problem-solving efforts, as required.
    • Prompt reaction time to breakdowns and other requests.
    • Assist with shutdown planning as per shutdown best practice.
    • Ensure spares are in place for preventive maintenance activities.

    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to process teams - operating procedures, fault finding, etc.
    • Monitor and control quality practices in a manufacturing / cellar / engineering environment.
    • Innovation and business improvements in support of operational and segment goals.
    • Implemented initiatives of business plans.
    • Assisting with installation of new equipment, projects, and improvements.
    • Ensuring that administration is attended to timeously and as per best practice.
    • Comply with Heineken Beverages standard operating practices.
    • Excellent housekeeping.
    • Perform mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance and repairs, to production machinery, utilities, and facilities, timeously and according to specification. (e.g., lighting, boilers, compressors, crossflows, heat exchangers, crushers, pumps, electrical motors, control panels, distribution boards, etc.)
    • Perform welding activities.

    The successful candidate must preferably have the following experience / skills:

    • Minimum N3 must be a trade tested millwright / electrician
    • Minimum 3 years working experience as an artisan in a cellar and utilities environment.
    • Reading and understanding of electrical drawings.
    • Good knowledge of electrical reticulation in a plant environment.
    • Good knowledge of equipment used in wine cellars and utilities is a distinct advantage
    • Ability to do in depth problem solving and fault finding
    • Competent in argon and arc welding.
    • Perform milling and turning activities will be advantageous
    • Must be self-motivated, innovative, and able to work without supervision.
    • Able to work and make decisions under pressure.
    • Good communication skills on all levels.
    • Active involvement in mini-business activities.
    • Able to work within a team.
    • Willing and able to work overtime and flexible hours.

    Maintenance Assistant

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to: 

    • General maintenance work and basic plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting.

    QA: QESH Specialist

    • The QA: QESH Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining SHEQ systems and to give guidance to users on all SHEQ systems. The QA: QESH Specialist Acts as the management representative and organizes internal and external audits.

     Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

     Responsible for maintaining and updating the SHEQ Management System in accordance with HEINEKEN Beverages standards.

    • Manages SHEQ information system.
    • Ensures that the ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, ISO 45001, ISO 9001; ISO 14001 system is in place and used by all plant personnel.
    • Maintains the good manufacturing practice system and trains personnel to understand GMP.
    • Sets the targets for the GMP, and measures performance by means of audits.
    • Contributes to the development of organisation’s SHEQ standards and guidelines to ensure that these meet business and legal requirements.
    • Recommends measures on improving the SHEQ System and maintain the Wineries Certification schemes.
    • Support the Wineries to help them understand and comply with related certification standards using training programmes, or other resources. Identify & deliver relevant systems training.
    • Leads and facilitates third party Audits, which include regulatory & certification authorities.
    • Coordinate/conduct investigations to resolve compliance issues.
    • Support Quality Assurance Manager and Group SHEQ in delivering their responsibilities.
    • Acts as the Quality Coordinator as described by the Laboratory Star System.
    • Acts as the direct link to the Technological Controller when quality issues arise at the Laboratory.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

    • Degree in food science or any other scientific discipline
    • Qualified Lead Auditor – in alignment with ISO 19011.
    • Exposure to and implementation of international standards– e.g ISO 9001; ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000.
    • Good understanding of statutory compliance (e.g., Quality, Environmental, Food Safety and Health & Safety) and current legislation.
    • Must have strong ability to take concepts and strategies and put into documented processes and policies with proven ability to create procedures and work instructions.
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization (Understanding and speaking Afrikaans essential).
    • Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
    • Ability to train and develop others.
    • Influencing skills.
    • Ability to thrive in complex, high pressure environments.
    • Advanced Computer skills.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience related to FSQMS implementation & maintenance. Knowledge of brewing process is advantageous.
