    Internship: ICT (12 Month Contract)

    Minimum requirements

    • Completed NQF level 7 in Information Technology
    • No work experience, graduates in search of internship to gain experience
    • Not have participated previously in any formal employment or internship/learnership programme
    • Be a South African citizen
    • Must be unemployed graduate under the age of 35

    Internship: Laboratory X1 (12 month)

    Minimum requirements

    • Completed NQF level 7 in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry
    • No working experience, graduate in search of internship to gain experience
    • Not have participated previously in any formal employment or internship/learnership programme
    • Be a South African citizen
    • Must be unemployed graduate under the age of 35
    • Basic knowledge of radioactivity and radioactivity measurements is advantageous
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS office

    Skills Development and Training focus areas

    • Implementation on sample administration procedure which involves sample receipt, storage and processing.
    • Receive relevant training on the various analytical techniques and use of instruments.
    • Preparation procedures for various sample matrices.
    • Training on the administration of portable instruments.
    • Training the implementation of the Quality Assurance program.
    • Training on the calibration of various instruments.
    • Participate in all the above activities on a regular basis including assistance with the maintenance of all the laboratory infrastructure.

    Analyst In-Training: Emergency Preparedness and Response X2 (36 months)

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • Completed NQF level 8 in Nuclear Science or Radiation Science or Nuclear Engineering
    • 1-year regulatory experience or relevant industry related experience
    • Be a South African citizen

    Skills Development and Training focus areas

    • Legislative and regulatory framework related to emergency preparedness and response
    • Assist in overviewing of international standards related to emergency preparedness and response
    • Understanding the process of and provide assistance with conducting of reviews and assessments
    • Assist with the preparations and conduct of nuclear and radiological emergency exercises and drills.
    • Overview and understanding the operation of the Regulatory Emergency Response Centre (i.e. supporting response plans and procedures, and related activities),
    • Assist with ensuring the readiness of Regulatory Emergency Response Centre to respond case of nuclear or radiological emergency (i.e. quality assurance, draft and update the emergency procedures, maintenance and operation of Online Radiation Monitory System and Plant Data Transfer System etc.).
    • Assist with the inspections related to Emergency Preparedness and Response activities
    • Participate in liaison meetings with authorisation holders and external stakeholders
    • General understanding of the NNR regulatory processes
