    Accountant - Payroll

    Job Overview:

    Join Lactalis at our offices in Western Cape and take on the challenging role as the Accountant - Payroll. You will be responsible for accounting and tax responsibilities including the overall supervision of 6 payrolls (2 x South Africa; Botswana; Eswatini; Mozambique and Zambia).

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Accountability for coordinating and controlling of timely and accurate processing of all input documentation according to company policies and procedures for 6 monthly payrolls on Payroll Focus, with the support of a team of 2 Payroll Administrators and 1 Payroll Clerk.
    • Interpreting, communicating, coaching & monitoring of relevant policies and procedures with payroll staff to maximise efficiency.
    • Business process enhancement for automation
    • Communicating the service delivery strategy and operating model to the team.
    • Identifying risks and implement actions to mitigate/eliminate all risks and advise your manager of any variances of note.
    • Complying with all governance requirements. Managing and investigating escalations effectively.
    • Need to be able to keep to strict deadlines.
    • Ensure accurate and timeous accounting treatment of provisions and reconciliations of each key account with regards to employment cost
    • Prepare various accounting schedules and summaries.
    • Prepare materials for external or internal auditors.
    • Responsible for payroll tax activities, including compliance with local government regulations and filing of local returns and tax certificates for South Africa and Africa.
    • Ability to business partner with various stakeholders and add value to the business
    • Act as a key point of reference between Finance and Human Resources on any Payroll related matter.
    • As payroll evolves the supervisory functions will increase and the candidate must be able to adapt accordingly.

    Required Skills:

    • Recently qualified CA / or BCOM HONS with articles.
    • 5+ Years’ Payroll experience, including African payrolls (knowledge of a payroll system essential)
    • Technical skills and expertise for legislation pertaining to payroll, PAYE, Expats salary, compliance audits with regards to SARS/COIDA (including internal/external audits) - value added controls
    • Ability to work independently, under pressure and with a team.
    • Sound analytics skills to perform work with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong technical skills with Microsoft office applications, proficiency in Excel required.

    Production Coordinator

    Job Description    
    Join Lactalis at our plant in Eastern Cape Port Elizabeth Plant Steri department and take on the role of a Production Coordinator. Successful candidates needs to have 3-5 years in a FMCG environment. Complementary to the years of experience, they must have knowledge of ISO22000/ FSSC22000 as well as strong understanding of perquisite programs (HACCP, GMP etc.). In addition, must also have the ability to manage a diverse team of people, also be computer literate, and be professionally proficient in English.

    Required Skills    

    • Relevant degree or equivalent;
    • 3 or more years’ experience within FMCG industry (experience in production is advantageous);
    • Must have people management experience and conflict resolution;
    • Flexibility and willingness to work shifts, weekends and publics when necessary;
    • Must good knowledge of ISO22000/FSSC22000 as well as strong understand of prerequisite programs (GMP, HACCP, etc.);
    • Must have the ability to take crucial decisions;
    • Computer Literate – (Microsoft suite proficient);
    • Preferably have knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. BPCS); and
    • High attention to detail.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Plan and organize production for all shifts in order to meet production targets on a continued basis;
    • Ensure quality control throughout the production process;
    • Drive troubleshooting and Problem-solving, as well as liaise with different support functions
    • Coordinate weekly cares and planned downtime for preventive maintenance on the in adherence to Food Safety standards;
    • Manage production bookings/ invoicing, daily cycle counts and explain stock variances;
    • Manage material losses and waste;
    • Assist with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives/ projects within the department;
    • Manage teams or people , as well as resolve conflict;
    • Maintain discipline in accordance with company code of conduct and procedures;
    • Ensure food safety and quality standards are maintained; and
    • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
