KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Banking and Reconciliations:

• Perform daily banking reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor cash deposits and ensure they are accurately allocated and recorded.
• Work closely with the AP and Occupancy teams to track and reconcile payments make from bank accounts.

Weekly Reporting and Variance Analysis:

• Prepare weekly missed banking and cash variance reports for assigned countries.
• Provide commentary and context on cash variances for discussion with the Loss Prevention team.
• Collaborate with the retail operations and loss prevention teams to understand root cause and support resolution plans.

Month-End Accounting:

• Prepare and post journals for bank fees and interest income; Interbank transfers; store deposit variances; accruals for direct debits where invoices are not yet recorded.
• Support the month-end close process with timely submission of reconciliations and journals.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Bank accounts, Gift voucher Liability accounts, Cash clearing accounts, Trade Creditors clearing accounts, Team expense claim clearing accounts and Cash advance accounts.
• Investigate and clear reconciling items in a timely manner, escalating as needed.

Meetings and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Attend weekly meeting with Loss Prevention and the Banking team.
• Present findings and updates for assigned countries, focusing on missed banking and cash variances.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure timely resolution of cash issues and prevent recurrences.

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (or currently studying)
• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or assistant accountant role.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, banking transactions, and reconciliations.
• Proficient in Excel (lookups, pivot, reconciliation tools).
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

The role:

• Lovisa has 400 stores in Europe and Africa and a Global Support Centre in Johannesburg. 
• This role is part of the EMEA Talent Acquisition team
• Perform full-cycle recruitment for our Africa HQ in Johannesburg (on average four hires per month)
• Facilitate the smooth operation of self-service Retail Store recruitment for Southern Africa and Germany (on average 50 hires per month)
• Role reports to Head of TA for EMEA, in Europe
• Develop and implement agile recruiting plans for different situations in different countries for different roles. Sometimes Indeed works, sometimes local job-boards, sometimes Linked-in. Sometimes the shopping centre job-board. Sometimes internal referrals, or a store-window advertisement. Sometimes you may do a proactive LinkedIn search. Sometimes we may get too many applicants that need to be brought back to manageable numbers. You work out what’s our best supply channels and screening for each area
• Hiring Managers assess and interview store candidates, there are too many stores for you to do it – your job is to make sure they have quality supply
• Social Media recruitment – maximize the channels at our disposal
• Engage and manage agencies if we’ve shown its required
• Master the ATS, and the reporting insights it gives us
• You will be working with top-notch recruitment and HR leadership in Africa and Europe. You should expect high exposure to best-practice thinking in recruitment, and we welcome your input and ideas.

You:

• You will speak German professionally
• You will not focus on what cannot be done, you will be discover what can be done. Internal recruitment cannot leave a problem unsolved
• Urgency. It’s retail, after all. Everything is needed now
• English required, but any other languages would be useful
• Having been in recruitment before would be helpful. Not absolutely necessary if you are bright, engaging, positive and absorb training like a sponge, but having done some recruitment – or worked in a retail store environment – would give you a head start
• We are a 5-days in the office company. Culturally retail staff go every day to their place of work, and the Support Centre culture is the same
• You will not be someone who changes job every year. We expect to invest time and training into you, which will be safer if you have a stable track record

This role will look after the Cape Town region:

• Effective Store visits. Evaluate the performance of the Store Manager, utilizing the reports available and set clear objectives to achieve Lovisa directives and benchmarks.
• Ensure communication, through morning calls, written action plans, LOLA notices and one-on-one meetings is clear and consistent, with an aim to coach and develop your Team.
• Recruit passionate and Customer focused Team to develop and succession plan through Lovisa.
• Reduce unnecessary costs, through effective rostering - the right people at the right time.
• Focus on reducing internal and external shrinkage by ensuring Store Managers and Team follow the Lovisa Security Manual and Loss Prevention best practice.

 To be successful in this role you will have:

• 3 years or more experience in a management position within a Retail or Customer/Sales focused industry
• Proven ability to multi-site manage in a fast paced, high-volume environment
• Demonstrated understanding of Customer experience and continually improving this to achieve results
• Flexibility and desire to travel interstate and/or internationally based on the needs of the business
