    Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    As an Electrical Engineer you will perform a variety of electrical engineering tasks designing, planning, and overseeing the design and development of electrical components, systems and Control Systems.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Research, develop, and design Electrical and electronic interface circuitry for control of products.
    • Work with customers (internal/external) and review project defining documents to understand project requirements.
    • Create and/or design electrical drawings and documentation. (Typical; block diagram, termination diagram, electrical schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings and BOMs.)
    • Ensure electrical scope and content is defined during initial design processes.
    • Provide electrical leadership in preparation, and ensure that deliverables projects are controlled with regard to scope, schedule, budget, performing appraisal, etc.
    • Establish design criteria for deliverables using required codes and standards.
    • Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure subsequent design changes are documented and transmitted as required to internal and external resources.
    • Participate in design review.
    • Provide manufacturing with technical assistance.
    • Provide technical support during testing.
    • Review and approve engineering documentation provided by external groups.
    • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
    • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

    Educations & Experience Qualifications

    • Advanced Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Preferred 5+ years of experience designing control systems.

    • Experience with design and engineering of Ex equipment is desirable.
    • Knowledge of ABS, DNVGL, and API standards
    • CompEx training or equivalent is a plus.
    • Experience from using AutoCAD design tool will be an advantage

    Project Manager (Port Elizabeth)

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Plan, direct, and co-ordinate activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and fund parameters. Project management and customer focal point for all NOV associated project work scopes: Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) programs, Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) programs, re-certifications, upgrades, re-activations, capital equipment exchanges, OEM repairs, rig/ship yard based inspections and other internal projects.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Project management and customer focal point for all NOV associated project work scopes: Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) programs, Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) programs, re-certifications, upgrades, re-activations, capital equipment exchanges, OEM repairs, rig/ship yard based inspections and other internal projects.
    • Follow standardized processes, policies and operational procedures from a global operations perspective.
    • Responsible for all project planning activities including scope identification, creation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and documentation gathering.
    • Create and document required work scopes of the project such as quotations, proposals, purchase orders and change orders as required through the duration of the project.
    • Issue and track purchase orders for parts and services for internal and 3rd party requirements.
    • Responsible for project execution including scope execution and issuance of project certifications.
    • Collaborate with both regional and local Aftermarket representatives (Service, Spares, Repair, Engineering, Sales, Accounting/Finance, etc) to maximise support, planning, project execution and customer experience.
    • Build and strengthen relationships with customer, suppliers and vendors. 
    • Responsible for monitoring and controlling projects which includes risk management, change management and progress management, reporting and project close out.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Management is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and project management experience. 
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 3+ years within a project management role.
    • Experience handling customers and internal stakeholders professionally throughout the project lifecycle.

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:

    • Knowledge of oil and gas industry drilling, pressure control and/or lifting and handling equipment.
    • Strong understanding of PMI principals and methodology.
    • Understanding of technical documentation packages/drawings.
    • Fluent in Aftermarket systems, such as, RigOffice, Compass, Tracker, PIMS, and other system
    • Fluent in MS Office products, specifically Project, Excel, Word, Powerpoint.

    Hydraulics Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    As Hydraulic Engineer you will be joining our Port Elizabeth team responsible for hydraulic design and technical documentation on various equipment for new and existing markets. Our customers are oil and rig companies, rig operators and renewable-energy industry.  We have a broadly composed professional environment with heavy expertise in the following disciplines: Mechanical, hydraulics, pipe design & layout, automation, electrical / instrumentation as well as structure calculation. 

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and calculation of hydraulic systems and components in accordance with international standards and regulations 
    • Prepare Hydraulics Flow Diagram, bills of material, technical documentation, and test procedures and engineering reports
    • Contribute to standardization of hydraulic system / components and conduct improved quality, environment, and safety
    • Comply with and perform NOV Quality Management System processes and procedures 
    • The positions also include versatile and varied engineering work, a close cooperation with other departments and disciplines within NOV 
    • Some travel activities will be expected

    SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:

    • We are looking for engineers with a Master's or Bachelor's education (Mechanical/Mechatronics) or other equivalent and relevant experience
    • Understanding of hydraulic theory and the ability to apply knowledge in the design of hydraulic circuits 
    • Hydraulic experience theoretical and practical with land and offshore drill floor and auxiliary equipment preferred (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of hydraulic components and suppliers in the market (Essential)
    • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and computer skills (Essential)
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical principles and equipment operation to other stakeholders
