Successful completion of the College of Medicine Part 1 examination of the FC Ophthalmology (SA) and MMED part1
The candidate should have at least six (6) months experience in surgical experience as a Medical officer in Ophthalmology Department.
Duties :
Successful candidates will be responsible for the rendering of clinical services, which includes after hours work (weekdays and weekday).
Outreach including rotation at satellite and partner hospital associated with the University of Pretoria .
Research project for MMed. Participate in departmental activities in relation to teaching and research .
Cost effective usage of resource, including laboratory, Radiology and Pharmacy. Proper communication with other staff members (all disciplines), paramedical disciplines, patients or their relatives regarding the condition as well as treatment plan.
The candidate will have to complete a research project as required by the College Of Medicine of south Africa.
Grade 12 certificate. MBChB, FCEM part 1 , at least 12 months experience in Emergency Medicine in a unit supervised by an emergency physician.
Valid Independent practice registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
Duties :
Service delivery in the Emergency Unit SBAH. Managing P1 and P2 patients, also P3 patients in the triage section of the unit. Attendance of in service training M&M meetings. Presenting cases during academic meetings.
Training of medical students and nursing staff. Overtime duties are included and are a necessary part of the working hours in the Emergency Unit.
Registrar duties include rotation to other clinical department for a period of 15 months out of a 4 year period. Overtime will still be done in SBAH EU during the rotation time, except during rotations to Critical Care and Trauma surgery.
Three-six months of the rotation period may be to satellite hospital such as Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital and/or Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital.
