Duties and Responsibilities:

Lecturing

• Lecture on programmes (must lecture on an IIE qualification) across various modes of delivery where relevant.
• Marking of assessments and feedback to students in subjects lectured. May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.

Lecturer Development and Support

• Assist in lecturer development and support processes and procedures. This may include conducting peer reviews, facilitating workshops and one-on-one consultations.

Student Development & Support

• Championing/leading and managing academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
• Tracking student success and implementing support interventions where required. 

Research & Scholarship

• The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards IIE Varsity College achieving its annual research output targets.

• Able to demonstrate a proven track record of effective teaching in subject area based on a reflective practice.
• Able to demonstrate the ability to manage relationships with managers and staff effectively in terms of motivation, quality and performance.

• Experience in the use of technology to enhance learning is an added advantage.

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Information Systems/ Computer Science or 
• Registered for PhD degree in Information Systems or Computer Science. Candidates with PhD degree will be advantageous.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in a teaching environment)
• Lecturing experience in programming and databases
• Work experience as a software developer/ application developer/ mobile programmer.

Experience in one or more of the following technologies:

• NET (C#, .NET Core, ASP.net MVC, Blazor, UWP)
• JavaScript (React, Angular, Node etc.)
• Cloud Development (Azure, AWS, etc.)
• Mobile Application Development - Android/iOS (ReactNative, Kotlin, etc.)
• Database Systems (SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, Firebase, MongoDB, etc.)
• Operating Systems (Windows/Linux)

Key Performance Areas:

• Prepare for lectures based on provided content.
• Supplement content with own expertise.
• Deliver assigned modules to the stated outcomes and contracted hours.
• Mark student assessments and provide constructive feedback. Support student academic success by implementing workshops where needed. 
• Perform academic admin, such as capturing assessment marks and reporting on student success. Provide content feedback.
• Engage with professional development opportunities and attend initial training sessions.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Ideal: 

• Honours or Master’s Degree in Digital Design, Multimedia Design, Motion Design, Interaction Design or Animation. 
• Professional Portfolio to illustrate expertise in industry standard 3D animation software.  

 Alternatively:

• Undergraduate qualification in a relevant design field, and an NQF 8 or higher qualification in Higher Education.
• Plus, Adobe and Autodesk Maya/ 3DS Max Certification

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

• Intermediate to advanced  skills in 3D software such as Blender or 3DS Max and Adobe Creative Cloud Software, with experience in 3D animation.  Min 1 year work experience using 3D software is required
