    Vertical Equipper

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Effective and efficient supervision of the mining crew to achieve production targets
    • Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, materials and equipment
    • Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
    • Participate in waiting place / pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
    • Team and self-perform drilling, blasting, lashing, shaft lining and equipping to standard
    • Team and self-understand and comply with M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
    • Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s safety requirements
    • Effective self-management and alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
    • Blasting Certificate
    • Basic Rigging Certificate
    • Onsetter Certificate [advantageous]
    • Licence to Supervise or equivalent supervisory qualification
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Supervisory skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft [Word and Excel]
    • Planning and organising skills
    • Good English verbal and written communication skills

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 4 years as Vertical Shaft Equipper with experience in heavy steel erection, underground construction, re-enforcing and form work
    • Experience in effective team supervision and planning, organising and control of activities to achieve production targets
    • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
    • Working knowledge of bulk heads, conveyor belts, tip and box fronts

    Safety Officer Projects

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Understanding of accident / incident techniques.
    • Conducting investigations and recording findings. 
    • Carrying out the duties as prescribed in the Act.
    • Informing management regarding any unsafe working conditions.
    • Compiling reports to line management regarding unsafe acts and conditions.
    • Facilitating and monitoring the risk assessment.
    • Monitoring the effectiveness of the campaigns, codes of practice and proactive measures which have been put inplace to support the Business Management System.
    • Receiving and collating data from inspections, incidents and observations for review by line management.
    • Sound understanding of M&RC and client safety systems, policies and procedures.
    • M&RC and client risk assessment methodologies and principles.
    • Sound knowledge of Rand Mutual processes.

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent.
    • A valid Trade Certificate or Blasting Certificate.
    • COMSOC 1 and 2
    • Risk Management qualification will be an added advantage
    • Investigation / Tap Root training (preferred).
    • Proficient in MS Office [Word, Excel].
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Valid EB driver's licence
    • Medically fit to work underground (including HTS, RFA)
    • Clear criminal record

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • 5 years' mining sector experience.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Basic knowledge of mining operations and methods.
    • Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and system.
    • Strata control knowledge.

    Site Engineer

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Lead, motivate, coach and develop subordinates to achieve project and safety targets
    • Effective and efficient management of all sinking winders and construction work at the designated area within project engineering key performance areas (which includes, but not limited to, project scope, scheduling, budget, planning and procurement)
    • Quality control of products and equipment supplied to sites and those constructed or built/fabricated on site
    • Effective setting of standards / procedures, implementation and monitoring thereof
    • Effective management of various installations simultaneously
    • Effective self-management in alignment with M&RC’s values

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • BSc, BTech or National Higher Diploma Engineering from a recognised institution
    • DMR Government Certificate of Competency to practice as an Engineer (GCC Mines and Works - Mechanical or Electrical)
    • Project Management qualification (advantageous)
    • ECSA registration (advantageous)
    • Proficient in MS Office including MS Projects
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • Medically fit to work underground
    • Enablement and leadership skills
    • Project and change management skills
    • Ability to apply expertise and technology, deliver results and meet customer expectations
    • Solution focused, resourceful, innovative problem solver focused on incremental continuous improvement of TMM performance
    • Reporting skills (progress, quality, planning and scheduling)
    • Passionate about safety leadership and engagement
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to negotiate and resolve issues

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience

    • Minimum 5 years of primary production mining experience at engineer level, of which at least 3 years as a legally appointed engineer for Shaft Operations/Sinking with control of related maintenance teams and systems
    • Experience in infrastructure installation and maintenance
    • Experience interpreting technical drawings and designs
    • Experience in predictive maintenance analysis and conducting failure and trend analysis
    • Experience in working within project environment
