    Area Manager - Fashion Retail

    NATURE AND SCOPE OF DUTIES:

    Operational Oversight

    • Ensure all stores within the region adhere to company operational standards.
    • Conduct regular store visits to audit compliance, visual merchandising, and customer service quality.
    • Monitor stock levels, shrinkage, and product availability across stores.

    Sales & Performance Management

    • Set and monitor regional sales targets and KPIs.
    • Analyze sales reports and identify opportunities for growth.
    • Implement strategies to maximize profitability and minimize costs.

    People Management

    • Recruit, train, and manage Store Managers and support their teams.
    • Conduct performance reviews and develop improvement plans.
    • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
    • Ensure proper succession planning and staff development.

    Customer Service

    • Ensure exceptional customer experience is delivered consistently across all stores.
    • Handle escalated customer complaints or issues where necessary.

    Marketing & Promotions

    • Support the execution of national marketing campaigns at store level.
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of local promotions and campaigns.

    Reporting

    • Submit weekly and monthly operational, sales, and HR reports to head office.
    • Provide feedback and insights to help shape business strategy.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

    • 5+ years' experience in retail, with at least 2 years in a multi-store or regional management role.
    • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and leading large teams.
    • Diploma or Degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Additional certifications in leadership or customer experience are a plus.

    Visual Merchandising Assistant

    Responsibilities:

    • Assisting in creating and implementing a visual merchandising strategy for the store.
    • Ensuring the strategy is in line with the store’s brand, products, and target market.
    • Generating sketches of visual displays that meet the store’s visual design requirements.
    • Finalizing designs and creating detailed floor plans for display areas.
    • Sourcing the props, creative materials, and accessories for displays.
    • Installing and setting up window displays, walkways, counters, and in-store displays, or supervising contractors hired for this purpose.
    • Changing displays to promote new product launches or to reflect festive or seasonal themes.
    • Ensuring uniformity of displays across multiple store locations.
    • Liaising with other retail professionals, including buyers, marketing executives, and retail merchandisers, when necessary.
    • Monitoring costs and working within budget.
    • Researching lifestyle and design trends that will inform the visual merchandising strategy.

    Requirements

     Main Requirements:

    • 3+ years of solid working in a similar VM position within an apparel brand, must have hands on visual merchandising experience.
    • Experienced at using Adobe Creative Suite programs, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or other visual design tools.
    • Excellent Eye for detail with a strong creative hand with ability to communicate key ideas to drive visual standards.
    • Fluent in English, other languages are a advantageous.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
    • Ensuring that all stores under your portfolio are adhering to the merchandising principles by opening the lines of communication and conducting daily store visits to supervise the implementation of visual merchandising plans.
    • Positive attitude that will lead and motivate teams to complete displays to tight deadlines.
    • Must be able to travel within Johannesburg region- 12 stores with occasional travel to Pretoria.
    • Driver’s license, reliable car and cell phone is a must.
    • Minimum Qualifications Required: Matric/Grade 12, Completed Diploma or Degree in a relevant field of study is advantageous.
    • The role:  Your responsibilities will include conducting daily shop visits and workshopping stores to provide an excellent in-store experience, installation of window and instore visual merchandising standards for seasonal campaigns, weekly rotations and promotions, working with the National VM manager to ensure to maintain the global brand image, conducting VM training, driving area sales to meet targets, assisting stores to implement VM directive per individual store specification.
