    Senior Estimator

    Senior Estimator

    • We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our client’s dynamic team based in Irene, Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mining and related engineering projects.
    • This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of mining and construction estimation processes. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects within a reputable and growing organisation.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mining Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience as an Estimator within the mining or heavy engineering sector.
    • Proven experience compiling cost estimates for open-pit and/or underground mining projects.
    • Proficient in estimation software such as CCS Candy, Expert Estimation or similar.
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and the MS Office Suite.
    • Strong understanding of mine planning, project costing, and tender compilation processes.
    • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy.
    • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

     
    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions for mining and engineering projects.
    • Review engineering drawings, project specifications, and scope documentation to determine material, labour, and equipment requirements.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and procurement teams to ensure estimates are comprehensive and aligned with project goals.
    • Conduct risk assessments and include appropriate contingency allowances.
    • Analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations for compliance and competitiveness.
    • Support the bid and tender process, including site visits, client clarification meetings and documentation preparation.
    • Prepare and present cost summaries and estimation reports to management.
    • Maintain and update a database of cost benchmarks, suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Ensure all estimation processes comply with company standards, policies, and legal requirements.
    • Mentor and guide junior estimators, providing technical support and quality oversight.

    GCC Engineer / Project Engineer

    • We are seeking an experienced and driven GCC Engineer / Project Engineer to join a leading mining and processing operation based in MooiNooi, North West.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing engineering and maintenance projects, ensuring plant reliability, statutory compliance, and operational efficiency.
    • This role requires strong technical acumen, leadership ability, and a solid understanding of engineering legislation and safety standards.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • National Diploma / BTech / BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (essential).
    • Government Certificate of Competency (Factories or Mines) (essential).
    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ post-GCC experience in a heavy industrial, mining, or manufacturing environment.
    • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable engineering standards.
    • Proven experience in project management, maintenance, and plant improvement initiatives.
    • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
    • Medically fit to work on a mine site.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering and maintenance projects from initiation to completion.
    • Prepare and manage project budgets, timelines, and technical documentation.
    • Ensure all engineering activities comply with the GCC, OHS Act, and company safety procedures.
    • Oversee plant modifications, installations, and commissioning processes.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance and operations teams.
    • Conduct regular inspections, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
    • Manage contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to meet project deliverables.
    • Participate in audits, inspections, and statutory compliance reviews.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and reliability.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence within the engineering team.
