    Diagnostic Radiographers Grade 1/2/3

    Requirements :

    • National Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography/Degree.
    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South African HPCSA) in Radiography.
    • Completion of Community service in Diagnostic Radiography is necessary.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
    • Current registration with HPCSA for 2024/2025. Experience in Digital Radiography, Experience in utilisation of Computerised Radiography System. Experience in Theatre and Ward Radiography. Experience in handling of Trauma patients.
    • For Grade 1 : 0-5 years experience
    • .For Grade 2: 10- 19 years of experience .
    • Grade 3: 20 years and above of experience

    Knowledge/Competence/Skills:

    • Knowledge of relevant Public service regulations, legislation, policies, acts and procedures. Computer literacy (Ms Word, Ms. Excel). Compliance with budgeting, Radiographic Quality Assurance, National Core Standards, Health and Safety and Infection Control principles. Good written and communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Must have a good understanding of public hospital operational systems. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skill, strategic planning organizational skills, leadership qualities and supervisory skills.

    Duties :

    • Render effective patient centred Radiography service for in-and out-patient in adherence to the scope of practice and health protocols. To work with colleagues, relieve as and when the need arises and to work closely with the interdisciplinary team members. Carry out delegated duties.
    • To participate in providing 24-hours radiography services in the hospital.
    • Report to the Assistant Director: Radiography. Supervise, develop, train and monitor the performance of the sub-ordinate staff and other related category of staff in all aspects of service delivery whilst adhering to Batho Pele Principles. Adhere to provincial hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines regulations.
    • Perform record keeping, data collection; assist with budget control and assets management. Contribute and participate in professional development of self, colleagues and members of the interdisciplinary team members. Participate in research project of the department. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Perform all the administrative functions required of the job. Supervision and performance evaluation.
    • Implement and maintain the quality assurance and National Core Standard and norms at departmental level. Adhere to provincial, hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations. Contribute and participate in professional development of self and colleagues. Applicant should be prepared to undergo Medical Surveillance as an inherent job requirement. Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment)

    Operational Manager Specialty (PN-B3)

    Requirements :

    • Basic R425 Qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing council as a Professional Nurse. Post basic nursing qualification with duration of one year, accredited with SANC in Orthopaedic Nursing Science.
    • A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
    • At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate or recognisable experience after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification in Orthopaedic Nursing Science.
    • One year post basic qualification in Nursing Administration/Health Management registered with SANC. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council. Knowledge of legal prescripts that regulate nursing and health services.
    • Computer literacy i.e. (Ms Word, Power Point). Ability to work independently and innovate, problem solving, communication and decision-making skills. Strong leadership, conflict resolution and sound interpersonal skills are necessary. Understanding of Ideal hospital framework, PFMA, Labour relations and other relevant legislative frameworks. Prepared to do night duty and corridor supervision under the supervision of an Area Manager. Report writing skills.

    COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS.

    Competencies:

    • leadership, ward management/ward administration, planning, organizing, co-ordination and communication skills. Ability to take charge and make appropriate independent decisions. Display empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitating holistic treatment and care. Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines.

    Duties :

    • Supervision over day-to-day operations of the unit. Manage effective utilization and supervision of human, financial and material resources Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the scope of practice.
    • Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Promote nursing ethos and professionalism. Involvement in the Hospital Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement programmes.
    • Coordinate unit meetings and liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team. Maintain a positive practice environment and participate in education and training of student nurses.

    Medical Officer (Internal Medicine)

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate medical qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA with Independent Practice.
    • The following will serve as an added advantage FCP Part 1, ACLS, AMLS and Diploma in HIV Management.

    Competencies:

    • Patient-first mentality; excellent communication skills; good professional judgement; Integrity and professional dependability.

    Duties :

    • General Medicine: As a medical officer, the candidate will be responsible for the clinical management of general medical patients within any of the General Medicine Units at Helen Joseph Hospital. They will liaise with registrars and consultants on a daily basis regarding this.
    • They will be required to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures concordant with a medical officer’s training in this regard. Other clinical duties will include managing patients at MOPD, managing patients attending the Subspecialty OPD or Speciality Ward Consultations within a relevant sub-speciality.
    • The desired candidate will be required to set an appropriate example of an exemplary medical practitioner and serve as a role model and clinical mentor to junior doctors and associated clinical staff. Overtime is mandatory.
    • Participation in the academic activities within the Department of Internal Medicine and related Departments/ Sub Specialities. Teaching and Supervising Medical Students whilst on call.

    Electro-Cardiogram Assistant Grade 1

    Requirements :

    • Grade 12 certificate Or NQF Level 4. Exposure in performing ECG services (basic interpretation) will be added advantage.

    COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS.

    • Part of a shift worker team is providing 24hrs ECG service in Accident and Emergency unit and the entire Hospital [Clinics & wards].
    • Report all faulty equipment’s to ECG Department supervisor. Compilation and submission of ECG stats to the unit supervisor.
    • Ensure ECG machines are cleaned before and after doing ECG to ensure that the infection control policy is adhered to.
    • Ensure safe keeping of all documentation in the office. Compile the weekly and monthly reports. Distribute correspondence, reports and documents .
    • Assist with various administrative duties as assigned by the Team Leader. Attend meetings and training as approved by supervisor. Maintenance of user-friendly office.

    Assistant Manager Nursing Specialty (PN-B4)

    Requirements :

    • Basic R425 Qualification (i.e., Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
    • A minimum of ten (10) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
    • At least six (6) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in a clinical specialty after obtaining the one (1) year post basic qualifications in Operating Theatre.
    • At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognize experience at Management Level. Certificate in Health service management a requirement.

    COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS.

    • Knowledge of legal prescripts that regulate nursing and health services. Computer literacy i.e. (MS Word, Power Point). Ability to work independently and innovatively. Facilitation and presentation skills, problem solving and decision-making skills.

    Duties :

    • Delegate, supervise and co-ordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Initiate and participate in health promotion to ensure consistent communication of relevant, accurate and comprehensive information on health care.
    • Develop/establish and maintain constructive relationships with nursing and other stake holders (i.e., inter-personal, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teamwork). Participate in the analysis, formulation of nursing guidelines, norms and standards.
    • Manage effective utilization and supervision of human, financial and material resources in the department at night. Provide management support, guidance and direction to personnel under her or his supervision towards the realization of strategic goals and objectives of the Nursing Department on night duty.
    • Co-ordination of provision of effective training and research. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
