Job Description
In Sub-Saharan Africa, SNC-Lavalin Kentz Field Operations has a proven track record of delivering projects across all four of our sectors of operation including oil & gas, mining & metallurgy, infrastructure and power. Over the last four decades we have served blue-chip clients on over 300 diverse projects executed in South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Madagascar, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Sudan. Education Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of a completed B.Eng / B.Tech (Mechanical).
- Must have Engineering Professional registration (ECSA).
- Minimum 8-10 years relevant experience in a professional technical capacity involving specification, design, planning, checking in an engineering consultancy or EPC Company within the oil and gas / petrochemical industry.
- Must have worked at least 5 years as a senior engineer, supervising and guiding a team of piping engineers and designers working within a 3D data model environment.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of industry practices, tools, codes and standards as applicable to the piping discipline. Tool knowledge must be hands-on, expert user level.
- Must possess a good knowledge of piping mechanics and materials and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of pipe work and layout design through examples of past work.
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of upstream and downstream oil & gas and/or petrochemical units and operating principles. Other industry specific knowledge may be acceptable on a location-by-location basis.
- Should demonstrate engineering leadership ambitions through completion of additional training in leadership, management and/or project management.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Sr. Engineers, Engineers and Designers in the execution of the full range of engineering works for a project or projects within the Piping Engineering and Design discipline.
- Supervise and approve all aspects of the discipline area subject matter.
- Plans, schedules and control the work respect to quality, productivity and budgets.
- Provide high level technical supervision, advice, guidance and judgment to the engineering team.
- Assist the engineering team in the independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Perform work which involve unconventional engineering practice comprising complex features such as atypical applications, conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements.
- Engineering decisions are not usually subject to technical review.
- Manages manpower assignments and skills complements for the assigned works.
NB: Candidate will be subjected to a Sasol interview for sign-off approval.
