Job description

As a Sensing and Safety Field Application Engineer(FAE)/Product Manager(PM) your main responsibility will be the business development and billings growth of the sensing and safety portfolio coupled with strategic implementation and PDCA actions.

Purpose of the job

You will also be responsible for the Product Management thereof and all marketing related activities. There needs to also be a focus on supporting client’s and company FSE’s pertaining to product technical training. From a technical role, you will be required to initiate, facilitate as well as support FSE’s, customers in the various client specific technical applications pertaining to machine or manufacturing line sensing and safety solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive sales strategy for product portfolio;
• Assist Field Sales Engineers in quotation of intricate safety or sensing applications;
• Do joint visits with FSE’s to key potential customers;
• Provide successful training sessions for both key clients and relevant FSE’s;
• Dissemination of relevant local or OEE product information to relevant FSE’s and customers;
• Drive the relevant KPP products to achieve and exceed KPP target units set out for the fiscal year;
• Assist local marketing responsible with relevant marketing endeavours.
• Assist SI, OEM or End user in successfully resolving safety and sensing solution challenges;
• Visit and contact customers regarding follow-up support;
• Apart from company training provided must familiarise oneself and self-learn current and newly released technologies.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Degree, Diploma or equivalent in a relevant technical field;
• Added sales or marketing qualification will also be advantageous;
• Preferably 3 years of more of proven experience in solution selling of sensing and safety products;
• Proven Field experience and hands-on practice or knowledge of sensing and safety in industrial automation;
• Preferably have good or some foundational knowledge of safety legislation pertaining to industry;
• Safety category knowledge and hands on capability pertaining to safety controllers and safety light curtains;
• Foundational understanding of PLC’s particularly on PLC Safety CPU and Safety I/O will be a definite advantage;
• Must be a strong effective communicator with good interpersonal people skills and self-starter ability;
• Must be able to work effectively under pressure situations when required;
• You are self-driven and have a strong drive for results;
• Willing to work beyond the normal work hours when required;
• English language proficiency and preferably Afrikaans as well.
