Job description

• Business accessibility to reliable / accurate data:
• Engages and consults with stakeholders to gather information about their data needs and requirements. Translates business data requirements into system requirements.
• Works with the IT Data Services teams to design and implement data solutions in alignment with the project schedule.
• Creates robust and scalable applications (e.g. Customer Lifecycle Management Factor Library).
• Works with other developers to make sure that all data solutions are consistent. Understands the differences between the Data Lake / Reservoir / Data Product environments to determine the best place from which to provide data for specific stakeholder needs (e.g. Hive denormalised views for latest customer data that can be easily used by data scientists; providing tables on the reservoir layer for commonly used derived attributes; providing the database for applications from the chosen data product).
• Codes in the various programming languages across the data environments.
• Expands and grows data platform capabilities to solve new data problems and
• challenges. Creates data flow diagrams for CIA.
• Designs and builds prototypes in business intelligence/analytical tools for stakeholder acceptance and IT productionisation.
• Responsible for the design (data models / right schemas), build (stored procedures / logic to create tables and documentation) and maintenance (run book, controls, amendments, automation, production before handover to IT) of accepted applications.
• Constantly monitors the build logic to ensure the optimal operation of the environment.
• Writes sustainable code for data attributes as required and validated into the data asset library of CIA and ensures that data assets are used uniformly across applications.
• Ensures the timeous delivery of accurate data.
• Ensures all automated processes preserve data by managing the alignment of data availability and integration processes.
• Provides and adheres to data provisioning requirements and standards as stipulated in the relevant service level agreement (SLA); governance frameworks and any statutory requirements.
• Validates the quality of the data, raises incidents, where necessary and works with the Data Steward network and the Customer Data Remediation team to continuously improve on the quality of data.
• Interprets information of data results with stakeholders.
• Works with other development teams to review and approve database / data model changes according to database design standards and principles and implements any required
• changes. Resolves conflicts between models, ensuring that data models are consistent with the ecosystem model (e.g., entity names, relationships and definitions).
• Adhoc analysis:
• Provides adhoc analysis and reporting as required by the line manager.
• Stakeholder management:
• Actively engages with stakeholders affected by/affecting CIA delivery of requirements.
• Risk and compliance:
• Understands and complies with relevant policies, regulations and standard operating procedures.
• Understands and operates within defined standard operating procedures, internal processes, and policies.
• Adheres to governance policies and compliance requirements. For example, protects sensitive
• data and does not distribute it externally.
• Pays attention to detail and complies with required standards.

Qualification:

• Degree in IT and Computer
• Sciences / Information studies

Experience:

• 5-7 Years hands on experience in creating and managing a database environment with the ability to fine tune for operational efficiency;
• Experience in comprehensive report analysis and design with demonstrated knowledge of data warehousing and database structures.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating development cycles and project management.
• Experience with Agile application development.
• Worked in Retail Banking or financial services.
• Project management experience.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

• Proficient in application development skills for more than one business intelligence technology and analytical methodologies.
• Proficient in the selection of software engineering disciplines and demonstrates understanding of overall software skills including business analysis, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement of software.
• Worked with Big Data / Data Lakes and familiar with Hadoop and Hortonworks software.
