Role Purpose

The Commercial Credit Specialist is responsible for making informed credit decisions within a prescribed mandate. This role entails considered evaluation of applicant financials, credibility, stability, security and business case viability, and demands prudent discretionary judgement regarding deal assessment. The Commercial Credit Specialist is required to work collaboratively and as such, must be a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Promotes teamwork amongst peers and team members
• Makes informed credit decisions within prescribed mandate
• Evaluates credit applications, taking comprehensive business case into account
• Ensures continuous process improvement to enable effective operational processes
• Develops and leverages cooperative credit risk stakeholder relationships and networks
• Ensures customer service solutions are aligned to the operational business plan
• Ensures customer excellence through interaction with internal and external customers throughout all business activities
• Contributes to cost efficiencies
• Participates in planned activities that are appropriate for own development

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Qualification - Banking diploma or Bachelor of Commerce in finance, accounting or equivalent
• Preferred Qualification - Bachelor of Commerce in finance, accounting or equivalent
• Experience - Minimum of two years banking experience with at least one years in credit Individual or committee mandate exposure highly preferred
