Job description

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Officer to assist the Programme Manager to establish a programme procurement system and contracting arrangements within the procurement and contracting framework.

• Degree in finance, administration and management, accountancy, legal, supply chain management, OR a procurement specific degree or national diploma.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the management of procurement processes, with specific knowledge or experience of donor procurement procedures.
• Specific experience/knowledge of international donor procurement processes, particularly Swiss procurement rules and procedures, will be an advantage.
• The procurement officer should possess the experience, skills, competencies and knowledge in the following areas:
• Planning and organizing; report writing; budgeting and financial management; knowledge of relevant South African
• Legislation, policies and procurement procedures; competitive procurement procedures; presentation skills;
• Communication and networking; good interpersonal relations in an intercultural context; strong writing and oral skills in English (ability to speak in other South African languages will be an advantage);
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving;
• Computer literacy (Word, Power Point, Excel).
