    Academic Manager

    Job description

    Key responsibilities

    • Liaising with Talent Management with regards to teaching staff recruitment and employment contracts.
    • Managing the budget for the courses that fall under his/her portfolio of courses.
    • Conducting quality assurance of all Tutors and ensuring that they are implementing defined best practices during course presentation.
    • Working closely with the Learning Design team to ensure effectively curriculum delivery.
    • Training and upskilling Tutors on defined best practices for online teaching.
    • Delivering onboarding and training for new Tutors.
    • Monitoring and evaluating teaching staff performance against defined KPIs and conducting regular performance evaluations.
    • Using learning analytics and performance data to manage Tutor performance and to improve teaching and learning across the course portfolio.
    • Assisting in defining best practice for online teaching and learning at GetSmarter.
    • Integrating with the Research Hub to conduct ongoing research (contributing a minimum of two publications per year) into online teaching and learning, with a focus on GetSmarter's practices.
    • Identifying, communicating and rewarding exceptional teaching.
    • Managing the annual evaluation schedule for teaching staff within his/her portfolio.
    • Maintaining positive relationships between externally based Academic Staff and internally based GetSmarter Staff.

    Job requirements

    • A Postgraduate level qualification in Education, or similar.
    • At least 2 years experience as an online teaching / facilitator OR 2 years experience in evaluating and managing the performance of educators.
    • A keen passion for online teaching and learning.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Computer literacy, including competence in using word processing and internet browsing applications, as well as email management.
