    Specialist Early Childhood Education

    Mechanical Engineer II

    Purpose of Job

    • Utilise authoritative levels of experience in Mechanical engineering to manage and / or execute complex and / or specialised design, engineering, development, repair and/ or modification of mechanical equipment and plant.
    • This is performed in accordance with advanced engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements.
    • Coach and guide fellow team members, providing technical direction on engineering deliverables and risk decisions.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Evaluate current mechanical engineering systems, identify weaknesses and provide corrective actions.
    • Develop fit for purpose technical solutions to restore pressure equipment integrity of aging plant.
    • Manage interfaces between other engineering disciplines, maintenance, projects and external technical community.
    • Perform detailed calculations to code requirements for new or service damaged equipment repairs, modifications and life extension studies.
    • Capture lessons learned in specifications, works instructions and procedures.
    • Advise on project execution strategies including contracting and selection of suppliers.

    • Perform engineering standby and declare newly appointed engineers competent to perform engineering standby.

    • Knowledge of the Pressurized Equipment Regulation (PER), SANS 347 and its implication on pressure equipment.

    Process Maintenance Coordinator

    Purpose of Job

    • To organise complex production operations according to demand and quality standards to ensure goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner.

    Key Accountabilities

    Service Level Agreement Delivery

    • Consistently deliver on all service level agreements.
    • Assist with first-line troubleshooting and problem-solving.
    • Interpret overall production performance and initiate actions to optimise through direct communication with all units.

    Access Controller

    Purpose of Job

    • To conduct risk monitoring during hot work, confined space entry activities as specified on the permit to work, based on the risk mitigations implemented and/or procedural requirement, or at a specified frequency, in order to identify potential changing process conditions.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Access Controller is responsible for signing in the appropriate space on the permit form and is required to:
    • Familiarise himself with the emergency alarm button in the area of the equipment stipulated on the work permit.
    • Prevent people from interfering (e.g. closing the access point, stacking equipment in front of the opening) with a safe work environment.
    • Stop work and ensure all executors are out of the vessel if environment is deemed unsafe; and inform the permit issuer to make the required ruling if work can continue.
    • Familiarise himself with the area emergency siren, stop work and ensure all executors are out of vessel as soon as the alarm sounds.
    • Ensure that the confined space entry documentation is completed prior to entry and directly after exit, for each person who enters into any confined space.
    • Ensure that the access to a confined space/s is controlled as per risk assessment and is positively barricaded or locked during periods when no work is performed.
    • Not leave the specific work place for any reason unless they have been replaced by another competent designated access controller.
    • Return the confined space entry documentation to the permit issuer on completion of the task or at the end of each shift.
    • During handover inform the relieving access controller of the current conditions.

    • A Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of equipment
