    eResearch Analyst

    Job description

    eResearch Analyst responsibilities include:

    • Assisting UCT researchers to accelerate and advance their research by facilitating their engagement with advanced ICT capabilities
    • Carry out requirements analysis for research groups
    • Working closely with national eResearch framework programs, as appropriate
    • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure the development and deployment of research infrastructure projects run smoothly
    • Strengthening grant applications, around the development and deployment of research infrastructure
    • Developing and delivering material aimed at improving the awareness, knowledge and skills of researchers and support staff in areas of eResearch.

    Minimum qualifications, experience and skills:

    • PhD and relevant expertise in a domain science
    • Proven ability to liaise, understand and manage the needs of broad and complex stakeholder groups with diverse viewpoints
    • Experience in analyzing complex ICT requirements within an academic research environment
    • Experience in conceptualizing ICT solutions
    • Experience in program and project management
    • Experience in grant writing
    • Ability to think laterally and to innovate
    • Excellent problem-solving capability
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, appropriately targeted to relevant audiences
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a university research group or a relevant research environment

    Experience with any of the following would be to your advantage:

    • Financial management
    • Knowledge of high performance computing technologies
    • Knowledge of cloud computing (both public and private)
    • Knowledge of open source collaboration tools and technologies
    • Knowledge of research data management and modern eScholarship practices
    • Knowledge of visualization infrastructure
    • Workshop facilitation
