QUALIFICATIONS:  

• B Com (Hons) (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
• Chartered Accountant (CA) (Recommended/Desirable)
• Higher Diploma: Tax (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

•  6 - 8 years  General Financial and accounting; Tax experience (Essential/Minimum)(Operational)   

REQUIREMENTS:

• Member of Professional Body (Recommended/Desirable)

OUTPUTS:
BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND OPERATIONS

• Ensure policies and practices are aligned to best practices
• Provide advisory services and internal training to relevant parties in order to ensure correct implementation of tax policies
• Keep abreast of new leading practices, software developments and technologies in terms of tax
• Maintain legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting and implementing new or revised laws
• Maintain compliant with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state and local authorities
• Revise procedures by developing and streamlining procedures and worksheets for calculation of tax provisions
• Participate in other projects as required.

COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE

• Comply with processes/policies as necessary and ensure a well-controlled tax processing environment
• Execute tax processes for Exxaro group of companies
• Ensure all information and reporting has integrity and is in strict compliance with proper accounting principles and law
• Monitor tax laws and regulation updates.   

 CROSS - FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

• Support and collaborate with other functions in an effort to better the processes of Exxaro in areas where applicable

CUSTOMER AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

• Manage relationships with tax authorities
• Manage internal and external relations including interface with service providers and applicable BU's
• Participate in various stakeholder engagement forums

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Execute accurate and timely tax returns and reporting responsibilities for Exxaro
• Execute timely review and issue resolution process for all tax liabilities
• Implement tax strategy for Exxaro and its subsidiaries
• Compile tax department budget proposal and ensure it aligns with corporate finance strategy direction
• Control expenditure within department.   

FUNCTIONAL EXCELLENCE

• Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end-to-end processes, tools, templates etc.
• Assist in standardising, simplifying and improving functional processes and eliminate duplication and bureaucracy
• Apply functional best practices and promote sharing of best practices/knowledge.

FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

• Ensure the function adheres to Exxaro governance, policies, standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline.

GROUP FINANCIAL ACCOUTING

• Support tax audit and support principal tax consultant to negotiate with various tax authorities
• Implement tax strategy and policy, tax planning assumptions and action plan
• Coordinate the selection process of tax consultants for outsourcing tax activities.

GROUP TAX ACCOUNTING

• Prepare and review tax calculations, estimates and reports accruals and purpose partnering with country, regional and corporate finance, tax, legal business and operations terms
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all corporate returns
• Review current and deferred tax provision.  

INTERNAL BUSINESS PROCESSES

• Manage the internal and external auditors
• Tax transaction calculations
• Complete monthly and annual tax returns and review inter-company transactions of Exxaro Group
• Assist with mergers, acquisition and new business transactions.
