    Senior Specialist: Application Support

    Job description

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Need to be technically proficient in order to troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues, develop solutions, document correction process, ensure fixes are implemented and monitored.

    Compile Reports

    To compile incident reports, management reports, risk analysis reports, data analysis reports, provide operational process documentation and adhoc reports.

    Service Management

    Ensure that all relevant operational processes (Service Management, Incident and Problem Management, Change Management – Service Transition, Service Continuity and Event Management) and procedures are aligned, adopted, matured and adhered to.

    Supplier Management

    Manage vendor deliverables according to agreed deliverables. Ensure that effective SMART service based contracts are in place that guarantees service availability, improvement, sustainability and assurance.

    Financial Management

    Ensure that Vodacom Information Services applies sound financial management of allocated funds in line with Vodacom’s financial policies and procedures.

    Human Resources

    Efficient and effective management of human resources in accordance with the needs of the department in line with Vodacom’s HR policies and procedures.

    Core Competencies, Knowledge And Experience

    • Extensive experience supporting CVM (Customer Value Management Systems) Enterprise IT Systems.
    • Extensive experience of trouble shooting and fault finding on Web, Application and Database tiers
    • Application of ITIL Service Management Framework in an operations environment.
    • Managing/Supervising a team of support personal/vendor who provides Operational Support Services.
    • Experience with Windows, Linux/Unix environments and SQL.

    Essential

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • An Honours Degree / Bachelor’s Degree or a 3 year Diploma in IT, Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems
    • 5+ years Application Support experience
    • At least 2 years’ experience at managing/supervision of a Managed Service and gaining value through Managed Service contracts advantageous
    • Working in a 24/7 Application Support (standby) environment utilising various technologies.
    • Exposure to Enterprise applications (i.e. large scale applications) with a high availability requirement.
    • SQL experience
    • Linux/Unix experience

    Desirable

    • ITIL Intermediate qualification/training.
    • Exposure to WebSphere/WebLogic Application Server and/or Fusion Middleware.
    • Experience Supporting Contact Centre and/or Customer Value Management Systems.
    • Perl/Unix Shell Scripting Experience.
    • Telecommunications related experience is highly desirable
    • Project Management Qualification and/or Experience.
    • Business Analysis Qualification and/or Experience.
    • The base location for this role is Century City, Cape Town.
