Senior Consultant at BMI-TechKnowledge

Job description

BMI-TechKnowledge is an established IT and telecoms market research and advisory firm. We are seeking a Senior Consultant on either a full employment or contract basis for our expanding ICT and telecom research and consulting business in South Africa. The position is located in Fourways, Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                      

• Play a leading role in business development by building and maintaining industry relationships and driving sales efforts with new clients.
• Execute custom consulting projects centred on market analysis and forecasting, competitor intelligence, due diligence and strategy building on intellectual property created by BMI-TechKnowledge.
• Market research on the uptake or and outlook for technologies spanning the consumer and enterprise domains including access and core technologies (including DSL, FTTx, WiFi, fibre infrastructure).
• Construction of technical and financial models (Excel)
• Maintain spatial databases and conduct spatial analysis
• Conduct primary and secondary market research and data collection
• Analyse business and market trends, profiling competitors, verticals etc.
• Presenting at BMI-TechKnowledge events, client events, honoraria, conferences etc.
• Provide commentary on various topics to the media.

Qualifications and skills:

• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce or similar preferred
• Additional qualifications in business such as an MBA will be advantageous
• 8 -10 years minimum experience within market research and consulting in the ICT field; or research, marketing or sales at an IT provider or vendor or consulting organisation
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Extensive industry relationships
• Excellent presentation skills
• Knowledge of the South African and regional ICT markets

The candidate must demonstrate:

• Understanding of the ICT industry, in particular the role and relevance of telecommunications technologies
• Skills in data manipulation and analysis 
• Ability to discuss and analyse technical issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Good interview skills, and solid phone interview skills
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other software packages
