Requirements
- Grade 12 with Diploma/Degree in Journalism/Investigative Journalism/Copywriting.
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a news & journalism environment – both field and office reporting. A relevant undergraduate qualification, preferably in broadcast or online journalism.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in in-depth interviewing and research.
- At least 2 years’ experience in any industry accepted publishing software.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in multimedia publication.
- Good knowledge and understanding of photographic, video and audio equipment and technology.
- Solid understanding of local and international web trends and best practices.
- Working with CMS and HTML systems is advantageous.
- Fair understanding of Podcasting, its publishing platforms, tagging and a studio environment.
- Solid understanding of an Apple MAC OS platform.
- Strong communication skills and relationship building.
- Design and layout qualification/skills/expertise would be beneficial.
- Night standby hours during the week, weekends and on public holidays as per your monthly schedule/roster.
Key Outputs
- Create content for staff, clients, the Internet as well as smart devices, computers and other technologies used within ER24.
- Content includes copy writing, editorial and feature writing, multimedia storyboard and script writing as well as website and news content.
- Aggregating and curating user and staff generated content in close collaboration with the social media and communications team.
- Manage media in the capacity of a spokesperson for the company on work produced.
- Conduct research, interviews and create editorial content for publishing on ER24’s information and social portals as well as news sites.
- Working with features and archives to develop content for anticipated inserts and events across various channels and platforms (digital and print).
- Select profiling of key staff, department achievements and produce feature editorial content.
- Proof-read and edit content that is provided by departments for publication and managing copy to make it easily understandable and accessible to all staff or specified platforms.
- Management of social media and content concept creation for various social media publications.
- Writing and implementation of key messages across approved platforms.
- Managing content archives and content requests
