    HSSE Manager

    Job description

    Wood is currently recruiting for a project HSSE Manager with extensive experience.

    • Implement and manage the Occupational Health and Safety Plan and related programs for the project site to ensure compliance with the relevant safety and occupational health legislation and requirements
    • Conduct awareness and induction programs relating to Safety
    • Ensure monthly safety audits are conducted, to ensure compliance
    • Ensure all work is constructed and conducted safely
    • Record all safety information and report all safety statistics
    • Daily toolbox talks to be held prior to commencement of work and subject matter to be documented
    • Hold regular safety meetings as directed by the Construction Manager
    • Ensure the site personnel are in possession of the correct PPE and are using it
    • Manage the Tasiast Site Occupational Health and Safety Plan
    • Manage all aspects of safety on site
    • Provide safety awareness training on safety for all site-based workers. This will include toolbox talks, induction, awareness on safety procedures etc.
    • Monitor and report all unsafe situations / site hazards and ensure that these are quickly and appropriately rectified
    • Report on incidents, near misses and accidents which occur on site and follow up with the necessary procedures and reporting to the necessary authorities
    • Prepare and issue safety statistics, as requested by the Site Construction Manager
    • Advise supervisors and management on safety aspects

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Experience in the mining, pulp and paper construction environment
    • Supervisory experience essential
    • Computer literacy in MS Office
    • At least 10 years’ health and safety management experience on mining construction sites
    • Must be SACPCMP registered
