Research and Network Manager: Water Public Private Partnerships at National Business Initiative

REPORTS TO

• Programme Manager – Climate and Water

PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Lead research on best practice on water PPPs (governance models, financing structures, contract approaches, delivery mechanisms) through literature review and expert interviews
• Identify and build relations with private and public stakeholders within the water supply and treatment industry
• Set up communications infrastructure for the network (including a website)
• Plan and implement workshops and conferences for the network
• Draft discussion papers and ensure broad buy-in
• Promote dissemination of the findings by setting up meetings with policy makers
• Write a final report and share results in NBI stakeholder communities and media outlets
• Coordinate project with international partners

MINIMUM EDUCATION & TRAINING

• At least 5 years of relevant experience and a post-graduate university degree in engineering, public policy, law, economics/finance, environmental science or other with a focus relevant to PPPs.
• Prior specific experience with PPP models and water provision are strong assets. A strong commercial network and experience within the water supply sector is a big advantage for the position.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

•  A strong interest in improving water provision in South Africa through innovative approaches.
•  Very strong written and oral communication skills, ideally illustrated with publically available work.
•  Thrive when building new relationships and have solid project management skills, including with international partners

PACKAGE
This is a fixed term 2 year contract and remuneration will be negotiable in the range of R500 000 to R600 000 per annum, in accordance with the level and experience of the successful candidate.
