    (1586) Technician: Electronics - Cape Town

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    •  Engage in short term planning and perform tasks independently in accordance with set standards and  procedures. 
    • Perform fault finding for electronic systems by applying set or modified techniques within a defined context. 
    • Plan and conduct preventative and corrective maintenance in the electronic related systems and sub-systems or equipment to ensure functionality and serviceability of all electronic systems.
    • Monitor, review and maintain the health status of all electronic systems in the facility. 
    • Analyse, collate and escalate technical serviceability information to the Team Leader for reporting, planning, decision making and third-party incident management. 
    • Interpret and deliver on work instructions, drawings, alterations/modifications, enhancements, maintenance and operational projects in the electronics and related environment. 
    • Provide technical assistance in operational and capital expenditure projects on electronic systems and equipment.
    • Apply South African National Standards (SANS) and the standards of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in accordance with statutory and SARB requirements. 
    • Perform quality assurance on work done by external service providers in accordance with SARB standards/instructions and manage non-conformance. 
    • Prepare and submit reports, as per the Service Level Standard (SLS), using standard templates highlighting work completed and problem areas. 
    • Engage positively with stakeholders and clients, including handling clients’ complaints and compliments. 
    • Adhere to SHEQ standards within the SARB and enforce compliance when working with external service providers. 
    • Keep abreast with and upskill/familiarise self on new technology/equipment to enable performance of new tasks and activities against the required standards (manufacturers’ manual or engineer’s instructions). 

    Job requirements

    To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

    • a National Diploma in Electronics/Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering (NQF 6) or an equivalent qualification; 
    • three to five years of experience in an electronics, electronics automation and information technology systems environment, with specific emphasis on the installation, maintenance and repairs of electronic systems; and 
    • in possession of a valid driver’s licence.
