    Principal Analyst, Enterprise Services

    Job description

The new Principal Analyst will be responsible for driving new revenues in existing and new accounts through working closely with local account management. This will involve selling, designing and delivering consulting and syndicated projects autonomously.

While this position is regionally-focused, it reports to the Practice Leader for Network & Cloud Services in London. A moderate amount of travel will be required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead our Enterprise ICT Services coverage in South Africa and regionally, and drive significant incremental revenue growth within the first twelve months.
    • Take a pivotal role in helping to grow client relationships in the region by confidently meeting on a regular, pro-active basis with existing and potential customers based on your subject matter and industry expertise.
    • Independently produce research and analysis of the highest quality with little or no input from more senior staff.
    • Sell, design and deliver consulting projects in the region, largely autonomously.
    • Formulate new products relevant to the Southern African and ME markets and argue for necessary investment to support these.
    • Collaborate with, and manage members of, the broader global team of analyst experts to use their knowledge in order to fulfil projects in the region.
    • Maintain and grow your network of senior industry executives, further building your own footprint, and Ovum’s, in the industry.
    • Present comfortably on a regular basis in front of a range of audiences, from sales and marketing staff to senior executives within service providers, systems integrators, software vendors and user organisations.
    • Further develop deep expertise in cloud, mobility, collaboration/workspace, WAN, IoT, security and emerging ICT services.
    • Leverage your reputation in the ICT services industry as an analyst who is unafraid to take a stand on major issues, backed by up-to-date sector knowledge.

    To succeed, you will need:

    • Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in the ICT industry, either working for suppliers, consultants or within an analyst house.
    • Excellent writing skills: You must write well. You will be comfortable writing both short, highly opinionated pieces, and longer, more discursive analyses. You will structure complex threads of argument and explain implications and opportunities in simple terms.
    • Commercial acumen: Working closely with our local account directors, you will be expected to grow the client list for enterprise services research and analysis.
    • Intellectual excellence: Successful candidates will have a strong track record of academic, commercial or otherwise influential achievement in their chosen domain. At a minimum, you will be educated to bachelor’s degree level and ideally will have completed post-graduate studies.
    • Numeracy: You will be helping the team build and maintain market models and forecasts covering enterprise services. Ideally, you will have extensive experience in building models based on primary research data and market demographics. Strong Excel skills are essential.
    • Strong team working skills: Candidates will be part of a team of analysts with joint responsibility for developing our research. You will frequently lead or work as part of a team on both analysis and consulting projects.
    • Planning foresight: A key part of your role will consist in planning and developing new research streams in Ovum enterprise services in your practice, and to support new research planning in other practices, to ensure complementarity in the overall research program.
