Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas: 

• Engage in short-term planning and perform tasks independently against well-defined work instructions.
• Identify, evaluate and resolve routine and technical problems within a familiar context.
• Conduct fault finding on subsystems or equipment, determine components failures and perform first-line preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Test completed work and close-out job cards (work orders) related to maintenance and project work.
• Interpret work instructions and basic drawings related to construction, alterations, routine maintenance and operational projects.
• Apply national standards to maintain compliance with safety and health regulations.
• Perform basic quality assurance checks on work completed by external service providers to ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards and report any non-conformances to the supervisor.
• Prepare and submit daily reports using standard templates (job cards and non-conformance reporting), highlighting completed work and possible problem areas.
• Engage positively with stakeholders and clients, including addressing client complaints and compliments.
• Identify and address any gaps in own performance to meet required standards.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

• an N4 qualification;
• a national trade test qualification; 
• certification as a qualified boilermaker; 
• a driver’s licence; and
• up to two years’ discipline-specific experience.
