Job description

Role Purpose

Build, extend, enhance, and maintain features for our applications on various mobile platforms iPhone, iPad and Android applications. The applicant will also be responsible Collaborating with designers and product management to create great mobile user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical implementation, integration and customization of our client’s proprietary CMS to client mobile sites / applications.
• Diagnose and debug issues.
• Participate in application testing, documentation and deployment.
• Architect software solutions and determine current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new concepts and methodology, and development of major routines and utilities.
• Subscribe to a rapid mobile development methodology.
• Measure overall increase in search usage.
• Measure increase in search usage relative to visits to our site offerings.
• Measure overall coverage of search (total potential targets).
• Measure number of specific enhancements / changes made to improve the quality of results.
• Analyze failed searches and identify and structure content needs.
• Builds controlled vocabulary and thesaurus entries; focuses on elaborating the vocabulary and the relationships/inheritance systems amongst the terms.
• Responsible for working closely with web-driven data (i.e. worst performing keywords) to improve/enhance/expand and to associate with proper nodes of the taxonomy, specific to mobile audience.
• Performs keyword level analytics and manages an overall program which may include managing an outside partner.
• Responsible for data mapping of keyword dictionary to nodes and noun modifiers.
• Supports analytics and profiling efforts for data enrichment and enhancement efforts.
• Partners with Subject Matter Experts to validate controlled vocabulary expansion and mappings.
• Gathers insights from multiple data sources and makes informed decisions to improve performance of search.
• Architect software solutions and determine current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new concepts and methodology, and development of major routines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12
• IT Degree or Diploma
• 3-5 years demonstrated mobile development experience.
• Expert in C#, Obj-C, JAVA (C/C++ are a plus).
• Experience developing native iPhone apps or other mobile apps are strongly preferred.
• Experience at a leading mobile application product company and/or start-up experience.
• Ability to participate in a cross-functional team environment.
• Knowledge of RDBMS, preferably MS SQL.
• Front end knowledge HTML5, JS and CSS, as well as mobile usability.
