    Trainer

    Job Description

     Primary Schools Grades R Mathematics

    The Maths Centre has been supporting Maths, Science and Technology education in South Africa since 1985, through both educator and learner development programs.
    A Maths Centre Trainer is recognized as;

    • A quality educator who has both the content knowledge
    • Educator with sound teaching practices
    • Educator who is ready to make the shift from being being only an educator into developing these skills in other educators.
    • The job as a trainer focuses on both educator and learner development in order to have a significant, positive impact on the current and future education landscape in SA.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the position

    • Trainers are the core of Maths Centre’s renowned impact story.
    • Maths Centre Trainers use proven methods to facilitate the teaching and learning process in South African schools and ensure education is corrected, restored and enhanced.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to

    • Support and development of Mathematics teachers using the Maths Centre’s In Service Training model
    • Learner Support to improve Grade R learner progression to Grade 1 and overall performance in Mathematics for all grades
    • Data collection and report writing

    Essential Qualifications & Experience:

    • Appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably diploma/degree level in Mathematics
    • Recognised teaching qualification
    • Must be preferably a BEE candidate.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching Mathematics at Grades 1-3 level
    • Language requirements: English, Ndebele, Sepedi
    • SACE Registration
    • Basic Computer Skills – ability to use MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
