- The BI solutions architect will determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source systems and moving it to the ACoE Data warehouse.
- This will involve understanding all of the source systems, application architectures and DBMSs.
- The person in this role will design and implement the infrastructure used by ETL specialists on specific projects.
- This work will include constant refinement and or optimising activities to standardize and implement new functionality.
- This also involves the establishment and enforcement of a concise series of technical standards for the deliverables of individual projects.
- The architect will provide input to the long-term technology planning.
- The architect will assists and do knowledge transfer ETL developers and support team during the course of their projects.
Define the architecture of the BI solutions (i.e., a system composed of software and hardware) in order to fulfil business’s BI requirements/demands. Includes but not limited to:
- A breakdown of the solutions into components,
- The component interactions and or interfaces
- The technologies and data sources to be used in the design.
- Avoid implementation issues and readily permit unanticipated extensions/modifications in future stages (reusability)
- Developing specific data structure
- Determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system platforms and moving it to the BI.
- Implement the ETL infrastructure used at a project level.
- Establish and enforce technical standards for deliverables of projects.
