Junior Commissioning Editor: Scripted Content at MultiChoice

M-Net Local Entertainment Channels seeks to appoint a suitably qualified individual to assume the role of Junior Commissioning Editor: Scripted Content on a permanent basis, to oversee a variety of local productions. This position reports to the Head of Scripted Content and will be based at our offices in Randburg.

OUTPUTS

• Investigate and review content trends
• Report on alternate programmes or trends
• Proactively present/discuss new ideas
• Manage the budget with the Head of Scripted Content
• Ensuring that the strategic objectives are met and programmes perform according to set targets
• Act as an editor/editorial advisor on programs for broadcast
• Manage Performance of Commissioned Programmes
• Take overall editorial responsibility for programmes, and ensure that programmes are delivered as commissioned and satisfy M-Net editorial standards
• Manage Mzansi Bioskop Movies and Dramas
• Receive proposals and provide feedback on proposals
• Co-ordinate "Pitch" sessions
• Draft report with recommendations and submit to Head of Scripted Content
• Provide Support to Commissioning Editors
• Management of Production
• Manage Production contract
• Budget, specs, delivery of tapes, editorials, etc
• Conduct/Host/Attend regular internal status meetings
• Have regular interface with production house
• Ensure 360 Commissioning process
• Ensure effective management of stakeholders

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED.

• A degree or national diploma or degree in TV/Media/Scriptwriting/Drama
• A minimum of 3 years’ television production experience
• Script writing experience for Drama’s and Movies
• Ability to act on research and to understand local and global broadcast trends
• Extensive knowledge about TV broadcasting and reality and entertainment genre
• Legal and financial understanding and experience
• Computer literacy (Excel critical, Word and PowerPoint); familiarity with SYNERGY an advantage
