Doble Engineering Company is looking for a Technical Application Engineer-Protection to work in the Southern Africa region. Ideally the positon will be posted at our Durban facility.

The Technical Application Engineer (TAE) – Protection provides pre-and-post sales technical support, product demonstration and training to potential and existing customers within the Sourther Africa region. This role provides technical expertise on Doble’s protection hardware and software, testing of relays and protection schemes. The TAE supports market research and product development input to Solutions Managers. The TAE is required to publish technical papers and articles in various technical conferences sponsored by Doble and other industry organizations.

EXPERIENCE

MUST HAVE:

• A college degree in Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
• 5+ years of experience in the protection engineering field particularly in protective relay testing.
• Ability to test all types of devices from simple electromechanical relays, meters, transducers and control devices to complex numerical multifunction protection and automation devices and systems.
• Good understanding of different application protection and control schemes and practices and ability to understand and draw schematic diagrams.
• Hands-on experience in testing as well as diagnostics of the protection and control schemes in the field as well as in the laboratory environment.
• The ability to travel overnight within the region.
