Job Description

• We’re looking for a Multimedia Content Designer, a maker of all things beautiful, an individual respectful of form and function, to join a small friendly team. As a Multimedia Content Designer you will be an artist in front of Photoshop and After Effects. A surveyor, purveyor and lover of typography and, a master of puns. Do you understand South Africa’s languages and are you intrigued by all its cultures? Most importantly do you have a passion for television and all our brands?

• Engaging, entertaining and informing the A+E Networks Africa audience, our Short Form Content Lab team is focused on developing original, inventive and scalable short form content programming for the business. We have comprehensive expertise in the areas of broadcast television and content creation.
• A + E Networks is building its own Short Form Content Lab in Africa and we want you to be one of the first building blocks of its success. The first phase will see you sharing content creation responsibilities across all the Short Form Lab Channels in order to understand the content flows and production processes. As the Lab sees growth your focus will move onto visual creative development of Short Form content concepts through storyboards and artistic direction with a focus to the visual story.

Roles responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Sketch beautiful storyboards for Short Form shoots
• Design beautiful things that move the heart in Photoshop
• Bring those beautiful photoshop things into After Effects to bring life to the static.
• Create other beautiful things in After Effects ranging from simple animations, stylish animated text and template driven-content.
• Design social media posts across all of A + E Networks channels in line with a monthly briefing and brand templates in line with monthly content plans and social media reports from the Social Media Manager/Producer.
• Design marketing and display materials for events and presentations in line with a monthly content plan from the marketing team.
• Offer Artistic Direction on shoots and in Post-Production.
• Grade final content in line with A + E Broadcast Specifications.
• Work closely with Digital Media colleagues, particularly the fellow Social Media Producers and Web Editors to ensure integration between digital platforms and linear TV channels.

Person Specification

• Excellence in Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro
• Eye for design and beauty in all levels of content creation
• Good understanding of video formats, specs and aspect ratios
• Excellent standard of spelling, punctuation and grammar
• Ready to get hands dirty on shoot days
• Able to follow strict design and online grading guidelines
• A calm approach to stressful situations
• A proactive attitude to problem solving
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment
• A team player.
