    Research Analyst

    Job description

    This is a newly created role, requiring someone to work closely with the Consumer Insights Manager to further strengthen and develop the research capacity of Capfin, with a view to providing input into the strategic direction of the business through market understanding. The role requires a well-rounded researcher, who can help ensure all research undertaken is turned into actionable insights that will further build the brand and value proposition.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Key Performance Areas

    Research

    • Assists with further developing and implementing an annual research plan that delivers on brand and consumer insights and measures customer experience and satisfaction. This includes working with the Consumer Insights Manager to refine current surveys and develop new customer surveys as required
    • Assists in providing consolidated research insights as input into the business and brand strategy
    • Assists with the liaison with vendors
    • Ensures that the integrity requirements of research and insights are met (e.g. in sampling, data analysis)
    • Works closely with the BI, Finance and Credit departments to ensure timely delivery of and accurate raw research data for analysis, sample generation or other research requirements
    • Assists with the project management of research projects from inception to completion, including liaison with both external vendors and internal stakeholders, such as the Contact Centre staff and leadership

    Market Trends

    • Sources, monitors and shares data, articles, reports and other information about trends that will have a lasting impact on the unsecured lending industry. Including monitoring market share, competitor activity and industry trends (retail and lending); the monitoring of various forms of media, including social media
    • Measures and monitors market share data to gather competitive insights

    Identifying opportunities

    • Assists in identifying untapped business opportunities in terms of customer and product insights
    • Assists in identifying incremental opportunities (category, channels, technology) to the current base business that allows the business to capture and increase market share

    Post campaign analysis

    • Assists in post-campaign analyses of new launches in the market to assess consumer response and the return on investment
    • Obtains data and assists in the creation of reports with the Direct Marketing team to understand the efficacy of direct marketing campaigns delivered via various channels

    Marketing metrics

    • Works with the Consumer Insights Manager in collaborating with the Finance Department to enhance the customer lifetime value model and utilise this to gather insights and thereby give input into the marketing strategy for acquisition and retention
    • Compile monthly marketing metrics with the view of adding value to the marketing strategy

    Voice of the Customer

    Assists in further developing and maintaining the Voice of the Customer initiatives which seeks to encourage the awareness, relevance, engagement with and utilisation of consumer insights across the organisation

    Qualification

    Degree in marketing, commerce or relevant field/discipline

    Experience

    • 3 - 5 Years’ experience on the supply side in the market research industry comprising the following:
    • Qualitative and quantitative research experience preferred
    • Proven experience in project management
    • Experience in sourcing data and information from multiple sources (advantageous)

    Functional Competencies

    • Excellent report writing and presentation preparation
    • Information gathering and problem analysis
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills including understanding both quantitative and qualitative data
    • Working knowledge of statistical analysis & techniques
    • Proficient in MS Office (Ms Word; PowerPoint; Excel and Outlook)
