    Senior Internal Auditor

    Job description

    Purpose

    A Senior Internal Auditor is responsible to execute allocated work, whilst effectively supervising team members and building on client relationships.

    Job specification

    • Attending client opening meetings with the Manager/Director
    • Drafting of scoping letters based on Internal Audit Plan/Opening Meeting
    • Drafting of the Risk and Control Matrix
    • Drafting of the Document Request List
    • Preparing minutes of opening meetings
    • Timely loading of internal audit project on Barnowl
    • Allocate audit procedures to team members based on their skills and experience
    • Executing allocated audit procedures as per the Risk and Control Matrix with minimal supervision and review notes issued by the Manager
    • Review working papers of team members and ensure review notes are adequately cleared before sending it to the Manager
    • Drafting of findings identified through testing of allocated audit procedures
    • Discussing findings with relevant process owners to confirm factual correctness, including the root cause and recommendations
    • Drafting the audit report within the timeframe as set out in the scoping letter
    • Provide on-the-job training of Junior Internal Auditors/Internal Auditors and collaborate with colleagues to improve team contributions
    • Multi-task between two or more projects simultaneously
    • Monitor audit budget against actual costs for audits and send to Manager weekly
    • Facilitate in building/maintaining positive client relations
    • Communicate with the Manager and Client in a timely manner on progress of work and any challenges being experienced

    Competencies required

    • Ability to apply knowledge obtained from previous audits, to reduce time spent on review notes or formatting of working papers and reports
    • Ability to adapt approach accordingly and in an effective manner when working with different staff/clients to obtain the best results
    • Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them
    • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere during projects
    • Basic knowledge of IDEA and/or Barnowl is preferred
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • Good English language communication skills, both verbal and written
    • We operate in at a faster-than-average pace and therefore the successful candidate should have the ability to learn quickly, thoroughly and in detail
    • Work according to a high quality standard and deliver consistent results

    Experience

    • At a minimum, 3 years Internal Audit experience
    • Preferably have a strong consulting background, with the ability to work on multiple assignments, under huge pressure and be willing to work overtime

    Qualifications

    • At a minimum the candidate should have a B.Com in Internal Auditing
    • Preferably B.Com Internal Auditing Honours
    • At least 2 of the 3 parts of CIA


    Office Hours

    08:00 – 17:00

    There will be occasions when the incumbent will need to work overtime.

    EE candidates will be given preference.
