Job Description

Our client, empowerment partner to a large financial services group, with a mission to change the unemployment landscape and attack poverty in South Africa through investing in the SME businesses, as well as supporting social entrepreneurs, is seeking an individual to be responsible for designing and executing various programmes and events, to build pipeline or to support entrepreneurs.

The successful candidate will be involved in the following key areas:

• Design and execute entrepreneurial programmes and events, including the accelerator programme
• Provide support and add value to entrepreneurs
• Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders and service providers
• Conduct relevant research
• Provide input to investment activities including our post-investment support
• Contribute to social entrepreneurship mandate
• Prepare documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
• Work on corporate-wide projects (e.g. events, communication, etc.)

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in finance, business, or other related fields
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
• Entrepreneurial experience and deep understanding of early stage businesses (e.g. having your own business, working with a start-up, running an accelerator programme, etc.)
• Good financial and analytical skills
• Project management and facilitation experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work successfully with entrepreneurs and build relationships with stakeholders
• Creative and entrepreneurial mind-set
• Emotional maturity and professionalism
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Willingness and ability to work on various corporate-wide projects
• Highly reliable and organised
• Interest and understanding of our organisation’s mission
• EE candidates preferred.
