    Traffic Development Specialist

    Job description

    The successful candidate, reporting to the Group Manager Traffic Development and will be responsible for the following:

    • Overseeing and managing the evaluation of opportunities for new and existing routes considering the pre-identified target markets, network strategy and analysis of the competitive environment;
    • Supporting the Air Service Agreements negotiation process including the preparation and signing of Air Service Agreement for cargo and passenger’s documents;
    • Leading feasibility studies and coordination of the new route/s (Cargo and Passengers) with specific airport/s;
    • Developing business cases for identified new routes and providing guidance on limitations such as regulatory/aero-political to support the start of new routes;
    • Working collaboratively with Market Research and Analysis team to prepare route characterisation framework;
    • Engaging with all relevant stakeholder for the specific purpose of creating strategies that stimulate air travel demand in both target and local markets;
    • Taking a leading role supporting various route development committees across the republic of South Africa with analysis and recommendations;
    • Identify possible partnership/alliance opportunities with air service operators and/or other air travel value chain participants to enhance collaboration;
    • Engaging with Tourism Authorities, Chamber of Commerce, economic development agencies and any other relevant agencies to air service development initiatives;
    • Establish and maintain industry relationship in accordance with ACSA Stakeholder policies;
    • Oversee and provide guidance of the Traffic Development Practitioner.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

    • A relevant 4-year qualification Engineering/Commerce/Business/Science.
    • 4- 8 years’ experience in the aviation industry.
    • Experience in airline and airport fundamentals is essential.
    • High-level expertise in, and detailed understanding of business case development and finance management.
    • A good understanding and knowledge in report writing and project management.
    • Knowledge of the tools and techniques for research and analysis.

    Competencies

    The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and have good planning skills. Ability to solve challenging problems including having a high level of diplomacy is essential for this role. It is critical that the incumbent is ethical and trustworthy. The successful candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to be creative.
