    Digital Support Specialist

    Job Description

    The Digital Support Specialist will help in implementing Caxton’s digital community strategy in its KwaZulu-Natal branches. This requires strong coordination with the Caxton Editorial, Marketing and Branch Management teams to support their respective missions, ensuring best practise and consistency in cultivating a strong editorial offering on the title site websites.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assisting in the roll-out and support of the local KwaZulu-Natal newspaper websites
    • Coordinating with stakeholders across the Caxton businesses, to ensure the delivery of professional content
    • Work with the Caxton teams in branches to ensure sites and social media platforms are up to date, have relevant content, and adequately represent their community
    • Help train and assist Branches in the use of the CMS system(including enhancements), online reporting, and social media
    • Act as an advocate of Caxton’s Digital team, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
    • Helping build a core audience for the site’s brands through quality content and marketing initiatives
    • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the growth of the sites, and analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of new initiatives
    • Regularly feedback insights gained from the Marketing and Editorial teams as well as Branch Managers, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion
    • Monitor online trends within communities, social media, and the larger media landscape

    Basic requirements:

    • Relevant degree qualification
    • 2-3 years media experience
    • Driver’s license
    • Own transport

    Additional requirements

    • Skilled in Google Analytics, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite
    • Online media experience (in addition to news media experience)
    • The successful applicant must be willing to travel and spend time away from home
    • Strong writing and editing skills
    • Basic knowledge of HTML.
