National Supply and Demand Manager at Huhtamaki

Job Description

Our molded fiber business uses recycled fiber derived from newspapers, magazines and other paper products to produce new packaging. We offer egg cartons, fruit trays and cup carriers to protect, preserve and help with the handling of these delicate food products.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, reporting to the General Manager - South Africa. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics including materials supply, production planning, raw materials and finished goods inventory and transport. The position will be located in Springs, South Africa.

Main responsibilities include

IN-bound logistics

• Drafts and manages all contracts and agreements for the supply of raw materials
• Oversees and manages the raw material procurement and the day-to day maintenance spares and material order placement processes
• Ensures that all suppliers are clearly aware of the specifications of raw materials and that suppliers conform to these specifications
• Manages the processes and procedures that ensure that received materials comply with the specifications
• Develops and implements a policy and procedure that determines and monitors how raw materials are rotated through the raw materials store e.g. First in First Out
• Ensures that storage facilities for raw materials and finished goods conform with the required safety, health and environmental standards
• Reviews procurement philosophy, strategy and policy and coordinates the formulation and documentation of procurement strategy with particular respect to the purchasing of waste paper and labels

OUT-bound logistics

• Drafts and manages transport and distribution agreements and contracts
• Monitors pricing parameters according to the agreements in place
• Manages the outsourced finished goods warehousing function
• Ensures that all transport dispatch data is accurately recorded, transport costs are accurately calculated and reconciled
• Ensures the integrity of all production and product master records on BPCS is maintained
• Ensures that works orders are created and that the planning of production is carried out in accordance with demand, and that the production schedule is managed so as to optimize the inherent conflicts between customer, production and inventory requirements
• Ensures that days stock of items made to stock is maintained according to the targets.

Requirements for a suitable candidate are

• Qualification in Supply Chain Management
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in day to day production planning across a multiproduct process
• Previous supply chain management experience
• Previous experience in negotiating with suppliers
• Previous Experience in working to standards e.g. BRC / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Drive for development
