Key Responsibilities:

• Specialist protection & control design engineer with extensive network modelling experience to lead a group of technical experts delivering the said services for energy projects in Africa.
• Assume responsibility for management of medium and large scale energy projects. This will include: cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget to required technical quality standards.
• Proven project management skills
• Continuously looking for increased effectiveness and efficiencies in designs
• Understanding risk and its implications on the project outcome.
• Encourage collaboration across the project team in order to provide the client with quality service
• Adhere to H&S requirements and incorporate requirements into design.
• Identify and report on health and safety risks
• Interact with internal and external clients at middle to senior levels
• Understand client needs and design and deliver solutions that exceed client expectations.
• Ensure sound relationships with all stakeholders on a project.
• Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external clients and partners

Key Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:

• M (Eng) Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration with ECSA
• 10+ years' hands-on experience as Electrical protection design and network modelling engineer
• 5+ years' relevant experience in a comparable consulting practice working on large industrial energy projects
• 5+ years' extensive experience (post-graduate) in the fields below:
• Protection and Control design at Distribution, Transmission and Generation levels.
• Protection settings including IED logic design and communications interfaces.
• Steady State Network simulations using Cyme, DIgSILENT, PSSE and ETAP, including:
• Fault level studies.
• Load flow studies.
• Voltage regulation studies.
• Dynamic simulation studies utilising the same packages, including:
• Rapid voltage change studies.
• Dynamic stability studies.
• Motor starting studies.
• Programming experience in DIgSILENT and PSSE will be an advantage.
• Protection commissioning experience at Distribution, Transmission and Generation levels
