    Senior Portfolio Management Analyst: Credit

    Job description

    The senior analyst will be responsible for analysing the performance of the portfolio to support the Portfolio Manager by providing insights into risks and opportunities. They will break down portfolio performance problem statements into questions that can be solved through appropriate data analysis. The senior analyst will also work with the analyst to provide insights and commentary on portfolio performance reports.

    • Work with the Portfolio Manager to produce required MI, analysis and meeting packs to update stakeholders on the portfolio’s performance
    • Analyse key actual versus forecasted metrics and provide insights into any differences
    • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements and delivery within expectation
    • Evaluate the performance of champion/challenger strategies and provide insights/options
    • Provide analytical insights to support the development of relevant product and pricing offers to different portfolios/segments
    • Support the Portfolio Manager by analyzing the tradeoff between different levers across the product lifecycle (pricing, volume etc.), how this relationship impacts overall cash flow, revenue and financial/portfolio strategies and to provide recommendations based on the best way forward.

    Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

    Essential

    • Bcom Accounting/Financial Management/ Mathematics/Statistics/Operational Research/Economics/ Industrial Engineering/Risk Management or equivalent industry training and experience
    • 5 years Big Data analytical experience within Financial Services – Consumer Lending
    • Proven ability in analytics, business acumen and presenting / communicating recommendations across all organisation levels
    • Understanding of financial metrics in relation to portfolio management and the associated forecasting thereof
    • Comprehensive understanding of portfolio fields and data relationships in order to improve the analytical recommendations
    • Ability to cross check data integrity after an initial validation exercise The ability to prioritise and multi-task within a fast-paced and pressurised environment
    • Attention to detail, problem solving
    • Strong independent, results-oriented focus in a fast-paced, changing environment
    • Ability to work with diverse teams to ensure effective implementation of projects
    • High proficiency in SAS/SQL (intermediate or advanced level) or equivalent structured language analytical software
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.), ideally using macros

    Desirable

    Knowledge and application of credit scoring and risk management techniques across the entire credit life cycle on consumer portfolios
