    Summary

    Job Summary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform duties in compliance with quality standards as prescribed by the AECOM quality management system
    • Perform conceptual and detailed electrical engineering designs of MV and HV systems (up to, and including 132 kV) to meet Client, Local Authority, National and International Specifications and requirements including the development and checking of
    • Electrical Network Design;
    • Single Line Diagrams;
    • Network Diagrams;
    • Electrical system simulations and studies in proprietary DIgSILENT Power Factory and PSSE software, including
    • Load Flow studies.
    • Fault Level calculations.
    • Reactive Power support studies including dynamic power flow simulations.
    • EMT simulation and studies.
    • Power Quality analysis.
    • Grid code studies in accordance with the South African Grid Code for Renewable Power Plants.
    • Model verification studies after grid connection.
    • Earthing system designs including risk assessment and layout design using proprietary CDEGS software.
    • Lightning protection.
    • SCADA designs including network mapping, protocol selection and communication method
    • Provide required relevant input to tender documentation including compiling project specific technical specifications, plant specific technical schedules and bills of quantity for power and control plant for designs of reticulation systems, overhead power lines and substation projects including
    • Switchgear,
    • Transformers,
    • Instrument transformers
    • Cables,
    • Overhead transmission lines
    • Lightning protection
    • Protection and control plant
    • Communication and / or SCADA systems;
    • Compile cost estimates associated with project electrical engineering Scope of Work, including equipment and construction costs;
    • Provide project management input including
    • Developing electrical input for tender documentation,
    • Developing programme timeline for tender documentation
    • Developing project specifications and bills of quantity for tender documentation
    • Adjudication of tenders,
    • Management of progress and quality control activities for equipment manufacture
    • Conduct vendor inspections and factory acceptance testing for equipment
    • Provide re-measurement of works
    • Approve contract claims;
    • Assist Clients in the preparation and evaluation of tenders for Energy projects through
    • Providing relevant technical documentation for inclusion in tender packages
    • Conducting technical evaluation of tenders received
    • Making recommendations to Clients
    • Construction management / supervision
    • Output and quality monitoring of specialist installation and commissioning contractors
    • Provide support and advice to contractors during the construction and commissioning phases of projects
    • Conduct technical meetings on behalf of the project manager and Client
    • Provide progress report input to the project manager as required
    • Coordinate handover of projects to the Client
    • Compile project handover and close-out reports as required
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

    Minimum Requirements

    At least 5 years’ experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    B.Tech Electrical or B.Eng. Electrical with professional registration (ECSA).
